You can always take out the SSD and buy a new motherboard.
Might be cheaper.

Re: T43 Needing Password?
Do you get any other messages/information on the LCD, apart from the BIOS lock symbol? Looks like there might be more wrong than initially assumed. Here is a more complicated method, which costs money , but which I have used successfully for SVP-removals for many years. If that's too much hassle, ot...

Re: T43 Needing Password?
Can you find out which motherboard you have in your T43 (FRU or P/N)? Probably on a sticker in the RAM bay. Check in both ATI and Intel HMMs. You claim your model is a 2668 which has ATI graphics, but maybe a previous owner put in an 187x motherboard, which has Intel graphics? If so, check the first...

Re: T43 Needing Password?
This method has worked for hundreds of people, so you might be doing something wrong. Maybe you need to temporarily remove the (new) CMOS battery also, because the machine might still think you have the old/dead one... As mentioned in the link: If there is a film coating the copper pads or the metal...

Re: T43 Needing Password?
The T43/T43p are a bit different from most other IBM Thinkpad models, because they have a very easy access to the chip with the BIOS passwords. Most of the others need to be taken apart to access their BIOS chip. It may be handy to have another person with you for holding the laptop up and pressing ...

Get the X1C6 HMM manual here.
In there, under Special keys it says:

Those buttons are part of the keyboard.

Re: Can anyone look at my pics and confirm if t480 lid is magnesium?
Take the lid apart to find its P/N or FRU.
Or do a vinegar test...
Scratch some lid paint away, put a drop of vinegar on that spot and see if it sizzles.
If not, then it's not magnesium.

Also got a no-delivery for Tuus his Gmail, reason: mailbox full.
I tried another email for him, but no answer from there (yet).
FYI: Tuus travels all over the US most of the time (and has however few left motherboards with him).
He may not always have the opportunity to check emails.

The 240 has 2 LCD options, type A and type B.
Could they have some influence?
T2x problem was more the inductors falling off or the BOD.
I'm not aware of T2x fuse problems.

Re: X-280 Intermittent Charging
/Rant The USB-C idea as such is not bad, but it is extremely poorly executed on (so far) all Lenovo laptops. Reason: they solder those darn USB-C ports directly onto the motherboard, instead of on a small extender which you can plug in (and easily replace when needed), like the old DC-In sockets. Th...

Apparently FlexView can be done, see viewtopic.php?p=523847#p523847
And assuming that inverter is "moddable", then you can even go a step further and put a LED-backlit UXGA in it!

If you need an extra heater at home, by all means, give it a go.
But a more economical (and much cooler) one would be the i7-4702MQ or i7-4712MQ that 'only' has 37W TDP
