Thinkpad hard drive protection question

#1 Post by MikeCL » Fri Apr 26, 2013 6:05 pm

The program that stops the hard drive when shocks are felt is that just for the main drive or the ultrabay as well?

Seeing as I have a SSD it seems pointless to have it running?

Seems like it only works for the main drive.

I can confirm that Active Protection does work for an UltraBay HDD in my T61 FrankenPad.

I have it disabled on all of my machines that sport an SSD...

It does work on UltraBay and it knows about SSDs. I used to have a T60 with SSD in the main bay and a spinning drive in UltraBay. I tried playing a video from both and it would freeze when I shook it (indicating that the drive has been parked) only when playing from the HDD in the UltraBay. The SSD remained unaffected.
