Here is my problem :

1. I boot for the first time my ThinkPad W520 and install Windows Seven
2. I see that there is only 1 partition, and use a partition manager to split C:/
3. It doesn't work and my C partition is corrupted
4. I quick format C:/
5. I split it in two partition C and D.

So now, I have the partition with SYSTEM_DRV, my empty C:/, the new empty D:/, and a partition with the Recovery Data on it.

And now, is there a way for me to reinstall my computer using factory defaults ?
Knowing that the Recovery agent at the boot doesn't work and that I have no recovery or installation CD whatsoever.

A little bit of help would most welcome.

Thanks !

hi there
Not sure which country your based @
but CALL Lenovo tech Support, and ask them to send you a RECOVERY DVD
they wll, free of charge ( as your laptop should be - still under warranty)

Also- When you use PM or other partition tools in Win OS (AFAIK....they messup BOOT_SECTOR & other HD stuff) ,,,, the data generaly is still there .... if you have LINUX LIVE CD , boot using that and that will show you the Lenovo FACTORY RESERVE PARTITION, - from which you "CAN DO" reinstall. BUT!!-- but when/IF you reinstall from recovery partition - it will wipe out the WHOLE HARD DRIVE , and you have will to re-create what you wanted to do ( thus you might get the same issue again)

I would recommend - get a 2nd HARD DRIVE ADAPTOR and install your 'other' needs there. W520 will even boot from that 2nd drive!!

Cheers - hope this is helpfull

Did you order your computer without Windows? If not, then you should've made recovery disks before formatting. If you didn't, then you'll have to pay Lenovo for a set.

Not free of charge in many countries... warranty has nothing to do with it.
