Hi all,

You'll have to excuse me for what i'm about to say...i'm not sure of the correct technical terms to address this issue, but here goes...

I've just half-finished the process of replacing the LCD on my T43, during which i managed to pull the Thinklight cable from the little plastic cut-out thingy... The cable nor the plastic cut out thingy have any stickiness to them now, so what i'm wondering is whether its safe to just glue it back on, but i'm unsure whether i should be using a specialised adhesive for this :?

As you can tell, this is not something i've had to do before, so ANY help would be muchly appreciated.

Just put it back in place, no glue needed.
While the lid lies flat on the table, gravity will hold the LED in place.
Then mount the bezel, which will do the rest by keeping it there.

Cheers RBS, let me give that a shot :thumbs-UP:

I assume from your sig and the guiness themed name, there's a possibility you're either irish/have irish ancestry? If so, hope you had a great St Paddy's Day

Ok, i've given it a shot...and unfortunately no luck :( The cable doesn't sit straight above the thinklight hole on the bezel. So i return to my first question...what would be a suitable adhesive to stick it back?

Loosen the LCD so that it can lift up along the lid's top-edge.
Put the LED in place, and use a piece of sellotape/scotchtape over the brownish film/cable to hold it in place against the inside of the lid.
Make sure to insert the LED in its proper slot at the top of the lid.
There should be no need to glue it, unless the black 'frame' around the LED itself has disappeared.
In that case you need your fantasy to come up with a solution (or beg/steal/borrow the piece from another matching LCD cable).
Look at bottom right on this picture to see what I am talking about.

Google the part number from the Hardware Maintenance Manual. I did that once and got one for a reasonable price when I damaged my ThinkLight with a screwdriver - thinking it was a screw in poor lighting conditions.
