[SOLVED]

Hello,

I have an IBM Thinkpad T42 (Model 2374-W4R) laptop with Windows 7 Professional (SP1) installed. The system has a Cisco PCI Wireless LAN adapter that it recognizes but I cannot get the adapter to see ANY network, but less connect to it.

If I hit (FN) + (F5) on my keyboard I get the small black control windows for the wireless device and it tells me that the radio is off, yet the light for it on the laptop indicates that the internal wireless card is on. When I press the button to change the status nothing happens and the status still tells me that it is off.

In addition, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device and well as updating the drivers to no avail.

What else can I do to get the wireless PCI adapter to work?

Thanks.

That's an old wifi card with 802.11B, probably no router around that still uses this by now "ancient" standard.
Replace the card with something like an Intel 2200BG.

Any Mini-PCI (but not MiniPCI-e) card that has an IBM P/N or FRU on it will work.
Make sure it has the 54Mbit Wifi-G standard.

I went ahead and bought the one you linked to. I'll update this post once I get the card installed.

Thanks.

Just a follow-up; replaced the wifi card and now everything works like a charm.

Thanks.

@ ckoeber : Just for reference, is the card that gave you trouble the infamous " Cisco Aironet MPI350 ," model number " AIR-MPI350-U58H004 " and has " Ambit Microsystems Corporation " and " Anatel " logo on it, with FRU P/N 91P7406 ? Or some slight variation of that ? Would you mind posting the FRU or your card ?

Daniel.
