Got my T43 to replace my DOA R50 [ SOLVED ]

#1 Post by natgab » Mon Mar 09, 2015 7:19 pm

I got my new-to-me T43 today.

Everything seems to work, see specs below. I installed my 100GB 5400rpm Seagate HD (from a dead Powerbook G4!), so now I need to fix the 2010 error. Bios 1.29 (70ET69WW) 5-29-2007 with Embedded controller 1.05 I installed Ubuntu 14.10 but I had to do full reboot twice for it to load. I found this thread from user TTav134: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=92115, which links to a mydigitallife page.

I wanted to ask if this was the correct fix, downloading from the mydigitalife page and if this is something that need to be run on Windows XP. What is the newest Windows that works on a T43 with Intel video?

There are two different BIOS versions, one for Intel and one for ATi. You can burn the ISO and boot from it.

I've ran W7 on a T43 with Intel graphics and while it works, the machine struggled. XP is a far safer bet, as are many Linux distros.

Have fun.

EDIT: OK, the links in the mydigitallife page seem to be dead. If its in another thread, I would appreciate the link.

EDIT 2: I put the title of the .ISO into Google, got this download from the German Thinkpad forum. It gave me an .ISO of 2.9MB, is this the same as the original posted in the other thread?

FINAL EDIT: Worked perfect, no more 2010 error and no more ( roomate waking ) beep. :D
