T43 2668-F5G and Fingerprint Reader

#1 Post by Lorenzo » Fri Apr 21, 2006 12:56 pm

Hi,

I've a problem; I've already searched the forum and I've seen somebody else had a similar one.

My trouble is with Fingerprint Reader, tested with all Software/Driver versions available: 4.55, 4.6, 5.4 and also 5.5 I've found just today on Lenovo site.

When I use, I mean register fingerprints and enable Win logon with fingerprint authentication, WITHOUT a LAN ethernet connected to my T43 all works very well.

If I connect a LAN, fingerprints are not recognized at all at logon, if I try to register them again no way to obtain a valid fingerprint.

In addition, disconnecting ethernet I have to register my fingerprints again from scratch.

My T43 has been already serviced by IBM, they told me both reader and system board have been replaced: no solution.

BTW, no problem with a wireless LAN.

I suppose it's a driver (irq? memory?) problem.

My configuration is the standard 2668-F5G one but with 512 MB additional IBM original ones.

Had anybody this problem ad solved it?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Lorenzo

go into the fingerprint software control center -> settings -> passport type, and uncheck allow server passports.
Make sure allow local passports is ticked.

Tks Kam,

tried your suggestion but no solution to my problem; maybe I have to recall IBM for repairing it again.

Just a thought: If the T43 is deleting existing fingerprints, then a BIOS setting/change can do this. (As we have the same model, and I have extra 512MB fitted as well, if you want to compare settings let me know.)

Nick thanks,
for sure we can compare our settings.
Today my T43 has gone back to IBM repair center, they told me they need a working week.
When I have it back i'll post settings: tell me the BIOS settings you would like I report.
Thanks again

See what comes back from the repair centre; perhaps all will be OK...

If you still have problems, I suggest exchanging settings via (private message (PM.) -Not to exclude comments from those with far greater knowledge, but more on a security basis. I am uncertain as to how wise it would be to post BIOS settings; perhaps others would like to comment?
