I know we have been through this one some before, I still get this buzzing sound when I shut down to standby. Now, what I am noticing is that my standby times are about half that of my older A20p. About 1.5 days after going to standby on a charge, I am getting the death failure shut down alarms.

I am thinking this might have something to do with this damb squicking buzzing sound?

Anyone have any thoughts? Is the best thing to send it in? Is that the only thing?

thanks
n

Just out of curiousity which exact model is your T41, is it a T41p? Has anyone that owns a T41p had these buzzing noises? I hear nothing, just wondering if everyone's p's don't have fan problems AND don't have buzzing problems.

I hear a high-frequency sound that could be described as a buzz, but it's not the fan and I have to put my ear up to the case to hear it. I still only use about 1% of battery per hour in standby, so I doubt it's anything mechanical. I assumed that it's the normal sound of the circuits running at low power to maintin RAM refresh.

There must be *some* processing going on, too, because after a set period of time my laptop will go from standby to hibernate.

Yeah, it will move to hibernate, I just have that setting so low, at like 2% that the critical at 1%, pretty much just kicks in.
I cannot figure out what the buzzing is, I don't think it happens on AC.

could it be the infamous usb port buzzing sound? If so, just turn off power management for usb in device properties manager.

For those of you hearing noise while on battery power, you may have a battery problem, see here...

Scroll about 2/3 down the page, where you see Batteries.

Sounds kinda scary to me, if you hear a high pitched squeal, it could be your battery venting off all sorts of stuff.

I have got a buzzing noise in the lower right area where the HardDisk is positioned.. It is not the DVD-Drive! Anyone knows what that could be? My Impression is that the HardDisk works all the time, but why and why so noisy?
