Has anyone actually tried to use a 15" T42 (or even an R50) in a coach airplane seat? I can barely fit my 14.1" T23 sometimes. I'm afraid that the 15" won't fit.

I took my T40p with me on a business trip on Northwest... with the person in front of me in full recline, and my own seat in full recline, I could barely get the screen to open up all the way... had to bring the T40p forward a bit, almost on my stomach, to get a good viewing angle. The T42 15" screen is a good inch taller with the screen opened, so I'm thinking a fully opened 15" screen will be difficult at best.

Buy a T41p instead, and fly first class with the money you save, you should be able to fit it in up there.

With the FlexView display, I'd think you wouldn't need it fully open to see the screen fine.

The truth is it is all a balance. People who drive SUVs shouldn't complain about gas prices being high. You buy a certain equipment because you need it, and it will not meet everyone's needs. Obviously one shoe does not fit all. Those that travel all the time, will likely need a X40 type of machine. But those that need more computing power, but travels less, will prefer a T 14". And then there are those who need a 15" on the road, and do tons of graphs etc. I decied on the 14" for the size, and it has the similar computing power as a 15" R50p. If I wanted better screen to look at, I just hook it up to my 19" CRT. With a port replicator, it's very quick to do.

True, the viewing angles are much better with the Flexview... but when was the last time you worked on an LCD and had to look down on the screen while it was inclined toward you... lol... it would get old real quick... flying first class eliminates all these problems however...
