I installed the rapid restore ultra 4. Then I made a backup on C drive. After then, I checked the defragment rate. It was about 40% on C drive.

However, after I run the Disk defragment program, it is still about 35%. Do you know if the backup files can not be defragmented? If so, will my computer be slow due to high defragment rate?

Please let me know if you know this problem

I noticed the same phenomenon, however, I store the images on the D partition which is also my data partition and not on the system partition C.

In case of a recovery the D partition will not be affected.

I had the same problem, and here is the link what others suggested. And I ended up removing the local backup.

Based on the link, "to defragment a hidden partition you need to unhide it first."

I am not sure how to unhide the hidden partition. Furthermore, I am curious if I can keep the partition as unhide status. So, later whenever XP does backup (incremental backup not base backup) and I need to do defragment, it will be easy to do defragment. If I unhide the partition, is there any problem (during backup procedure or other)?

I would be great appreciate if you can help me.

RRwRR does NOT store the images in a hidden partition but in a hidden folder on a partition you have to choose.

I have two question for you. If you have D drive which includes the backup images and your data file, will it affect computer speed due to its high fragmented condition? or the drive D will not affect computer speed because the system files are in C drive?

Second question, if you do not mind, could you please let me know how I can make D partition (I have only used C drive. is it possible to move my document folder to new partitioned drive D?)

1. No, the computer speed is not affected- at least I did not notice any difference.

2. Several possibilies: use either arcronis partition expert or partition magic, or (much more work) get the recovery CDs, and create the partitions with fdisk.

your can move the document folder from C to D by right clicking the folder, than properties, than click the move option (I don' t remember the exact name).
