Hi everyone, I think this Ibm thinkpad is really a nice machine, silent well-engineered. I've become a big fan of Ibm thinkpads. I had a t60 previously and sold it for this t42 15 Inch with flexview.
As an attempt to lower the noise and heat as much as possible, I am looking at cpu upgrade possibilities.
By looking at this page, it seems that it may be possible to upgrade from my 1.7 pentium m to either

My current processor is already undervolted with NHC, and idles at around 42 degrees. Also I am running Vista (when I bought it that's what it came with), and has 2gb of ram.
My plans is to get two cards of 2gb ram each , upgrade to windows xp sp3 (for 3.5 gb of ram).
Upgrade the original hard drive to the owc legacy ssd (if this is the best pata ssd available).
Also have the computer cleaned and perhaps re-apply thermal paste on the cpu/heatsink.
This computer is mainly for internet browsing, youtube, typing. Some gaming too, the game I play is halo 1 multiplayer and age of empires 2 online multiplayer

Is it even possible to upgrade the cpu? will there be noticeably less heat when gaming? will it be possible to play a smooth game of halo1 online with the 1.3ghz or 1.6 cpu + hard drive? thanks!
