Have you tried with an external monitor attached? I seems like what you are describing is a completed boot without any display. Maybe the lamp has burned out in the display.

+1 - Try the external monitor route first to rule out the LCD; if you don't get any output consider shutting it down, removing the power input (i.e. battery & mains adapter) and then crack open the case to temporarily remove the wireless card & the RAM (so we can exclude them as being part of the problem).

Once done ensure that all external devices are disconnected (i.e. docking station, USB devices, etc), then connect only to the mains adapter to your TP (do you have a spare mains adapter to try it out with?) and then attempt to power it on to see if it boots up...that's just my tuppence worth of initial troubleshooting from my end. :D

Maybe it wasn't inserted all the way in. Gonna see if that works..

When you had the external monitor connected, did you toggle through the F7 switch, to make sure the external monitor was on?

The system board is probably shot. I had a T60 a couple of years ago that did sort of like yours. It's system board was the problem.

You're probably a lot better off buying one in forum's Marketplace...

Agreed, there is so much junk on ebay that it's hard to tell what's good and bad. I'm sure either George (ajkula66) or I could provide you one at a very fair price, but before you prepare to do surgery, power it off and remove the battery and ac power then cycle the power button ten times holding 5 seconds each time, then 30 seconds on the last time, then replace AC power from a known good power supply. If you get no post, try removing the ram, it should beep when powered without ram, if it doesn't, your board is dead, if it does beep, try installing only one ram chip in one of the slots, then the next, then switch ram. It's remotely possible it's a bad ram chip so this should help to rule out that possibility.

If you decide you're up for a board swap, feel free to throw me a PM.

Good luck with whatever route you choose to take.
