Hi all.

I'm new here. I got my hands on a T60 and I'm trying to make a CPU swap.
I've been searching all over, and I found that Core 2 duo are compatible, but what about Pentium Dual-Core?

I've got an A47 with rev.3 board and T1300. I made the swap successfully but the machine did not boot.
I suppose Bios might be the issue as I'm still running the old v.2.06. But wanted to check with the experts if I have any hope on getting the T2130 to work in the T60.

Check thinkwiki.org for the compatible CPU's with T60:

T2130 is not supported.

The BIOS isn't the issue. The T2130 has the wrong FSB speed. You need one with a 667MHz FSB. I might suggest the T5500 or if you want spend a little more, the T7200, though for typical usage there won't be much of difference between them. I run the T5500 in my R60e. it's fine as a daily drive. Upgrading to a SSD is more likely to make your system seem faster than a CPU upgrade once you get to a dual core.

Thanks for a detailed answer ZaZ.
I guess I'll be looking for a T5500 then, after I sort the rest. This machine will be slightly rebuilt (new keyboard, some new plastics, addition of fingerprint reader, 120 or 160gb HDD etc.)

You will need to update the BIOS to a more recent one (if not the latest) in order to run a Core 2 Duo CPU in that T60.
