T42 Boe-Hydis Panel Compatibility with T60

#1 Post by Thinkpad4by3 » Mon Mar 13, 2017 9:34 pm

I just got a T60 15" with a nice SXGA+ flexview. I also had a dead T42p laying around with a dead motherboard and a UXGA Flexview so I snatched it out. It seems to be a Boe-Hydis 13N7076 LCD. According to ThinkWiki, this is the one used in the T60p. Would this panel be compatible due the issues with EDID chip?

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Check the T60's HMM as well. If the FRUs match, then the likelihood of success is much higher.

Yep, The panels is listed in the HMM as the UXGA IPS (not sRGB). I would figure maybe late model T43`s might have it but in a T42? :o I`ll cross my fingers and hope for the best!

You'll be fine. It's likely that the T42p in question had the LCD swapped under warranty and that the service center was out of ID Tech ones at that moment.

I've seen very late examples of T43p with stock Hydis panels, if your T42p sports such a date (last quarter of 2006 or so) it's possible that it's the original LCD as well.

Whatever the case may be, swap and enjoy.
