T60p LCD (and other parts) on T61 bottom part
T60p LCD (and other parts) on T61 bottom part
Hello,
I am still looking for a cheap way to fix my faulty 14.1" T60p motherboard.
I have seen this bottom T61 part listing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400371013113
I was wondering if I can install on T61 shell parts coming form my T60p, particularly:
- 14.1" LCD 1400x1050 (main doubt)
- battery
- hdd caddy
- cd rom
- charger
This T61 model has X3100. Are there known thermal heating issue with this motherboard ?
Many thanks for your support,
rosma

Re: T60p LCD (and other parts) on T61 bottom part
That's a widescreen T61 case - so "no" on the LCD and the battery, "unsure" about the HDD caddy, and "yes" on CD-ROM and charger.
On a side note, £58 for one half of almost the most low end crap configuration of a T61 in existence is anything but cheap.

The HD caddy and rubber rails will fit in any T60/T61/R60/R61/Z61 and others, but your T60/T60p HD cover will ONLY fit on another T60/T60p of the same size.
Battery and LCD are also not interchangeable between Standard 4:3 and Widescreen 14.1" models.

Hello,
thanks for your quick feedback and dr_st I appreciated your note which gave me the chance to investigate for cheaper solution.
On laptopaid
http://www.laptopaid.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=t60
I got this two option:
1) X1300 for 24,50 USD
- http://www.laptopaid.com/lenovo-thinkpa ... 36531.html
2) X1400 for 39,99 USD (it is not listed in http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... MIGR-62741 but iti should be a X1400)
- http://www.laptopaid.com/lenovo-thinkpa ... 36529.html
does 15USD worth the X1400 considering I will mainly use office application, browser and some photo editing ?
My concern is that more powerful graphics cards are, more prone to faults seems to be. So I do not want spend 15USD more for a less reliable board. While if X1400 has same reliability and tangible performance improvement, I will more than happy 15USD more
Any other suggestion is appreciated,
thanks

Re: T60p LCD (and other parts) on T61 bottom part
X1300 has 64MB, X1400 has 128MB graphics RAM.
The board with integrated Intel graphics uses up to 128MB shared regular RAM.
For your intended work, the Intel version is more than good enough, and runs a lot cooler than the X1300/X1400 (plus has better battery life).

Re: T60p LCD (and other parts) on T61 bottom part
so, if I have understood in well, any of the following FRU would be fine:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... MIGR-62741
41W1360
41W1450
41W1362
41W1448
googling a bit seems that 42T0157 42T0290 41V9912 are fine FRU as well
are there any other compatible FRU ?
How do you find all the compatible FRU ?

Re: T60p LCD (and other parts) on T61 bottom part
There are dozens of compatible FRUs, not all of them listed in the HMM.
The bottom line is that ANY board from a non-widescreen T60/p is a drop-in replacement...
