I've just bought an x40 in excellent shape (except for a missing small front rubber foot : any advice to replace it ?)
It came with an 8 cells battery and I want a 4 cells , do you think I'd be safe with one of these $31.99 "buy it now" batteries on ebay : http://sn.im/ebaybatteries ? or maybe you'd like to advice a better battery ??
Thanks !

The batteries from e-bay can be risky.

I always advise to purchase batteries directly from the manufacturer. Sure you may pay a little but more, but that is worth it for peace of mind, warranty and support.

Sometimes the batteries on e-bay can be clones or re-celled OEM or NOS (new old stock) batteries and may work just fine, or work then die or in some cases cause damage to the system in which they are installed.

It it were my machine, I'd call Lenovo.

Thanks for the advice !
I actually bought this battery : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0353806723 a couple of days ago ... I will report how good this battery is once I've received it ...

Well I hope it works out for you. However that battery is setting off red lights in my head.

1. Only a 5 day return period.
2. They admit they are not affiliated with OEM's
3. I am unable to locate any info on their parent corporation.

Please do test it out thoroughly and let us know how it works out for you. I hope your money was not spent in vain.

By the way they don't sell 4 cells X40 batteries on lenovo.fr

And I should have read the forum more before buying ... for example in this thread : viewtopic.php?t=75248 they recommand the jadescomputer seller who apparently sells IBM branded batteries ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0484029166 )

received the bestnbestonline battery today so a little bit more than 2 weeks, not bad from Singapore ...
my X40 is amazingly light now :)

NHC says manufacturer is BATSZ and the wear level is 0% ... designed capacity 28120mWh and fully charged capacity 28510mWh, voltage 14574mV
Seller also recommands to discharge fully 3 times (after full recharge) ... and I am currently doing that in BIOS mode ...

PS :
wow, after full recharge NHC or the Thinkpad power utility say I've got a little bit more than 3hours of battery life ... as much as my 50% wear level 8 cells ... awesome ;)

battery doesn't hold a charge now :(
I guess I should have gone with jadescomputer, even if it's 2 times more expensive due to high shipping cost to France ...

Hi Everyone

I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a seller for a replacement IBM X40 battery? I would like to get an 'new' 8 cell battery if possible. I have read on previous entries that most of the eBay sellers that sell these aren't of a high standard. I have checked the Lenovo website for Oz and they don't sell them anymore (no surprise there really).

Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

I bought one from these guys, and it works fine:

BTW I still own one spare which I will probably never use, I got 5 x40 ;)

thanks deckoff

I recently bought one from a supplier in the US and got it today. I will test it tonight and let you all know how it goes. Cheers.

EDIT: Battery going great guns so far. After a full charge I am getting 5 hours usage which is great. This has really revived my little X40.
