The BT card is inside the lid, on the left.
The BT LED is on the inverter, further to the right of the card.
Could be a defective led, or someone put on a clearplate without BT symbol.

ok i tore it apart quite easy... the bezel is glued but no problem. now i can see that the bluetooth led is not operating. i ordered this one that should fit:

http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... OC:IT:1123

my question is: is it possibile that the faulty part is not the inverter itself? i mean: may it be one lead in the printed lcd wire (even if i dont think there is one lead for the bluetooth led anyway)?
I will find it out soon but what is your opinion? I wouldnt like to replace it to find out that the problem is still there

You could try Fn/F5 to see if you can switch BT on/off and maybe the LED will then get triggered.
Also try and reseat the modem/BT card, could be just some dirt.
And/or reseat the inverter onto the LCD cable.
Make sure the laptop is off, and battery/AC adapter disconnected before doing this.

Fn+ f5 switch between wireless and no wireless. As I saidthe bt works fine evento, if the led is not on. I was just wondering if there is a single lead in the wiring for that led, which I don't think, so my diagnosis is that the inverter has a faulty led. Do you agree with my diagnosis?

Whether just the LED or another part/wire of the inverter is defective, you still need to replace the inverter, if you want the LED to work.

Did you install the bluetooth software from the Lenovo site?

Hello,

Before try to to replace the inverter please verify the BIOS settings.

Bluetooth card MUST be enabled in bios settings.

Is not defective, I think the card is present but operating system can't see bluetooth card because is disabled in bios !!

Good look!

Nope. Bluetooth does work because I can search devices and I'm using a bluetooth mouse right now. The thinkpad module is loaded and bluetooth is enabled. I can even see the broadcom bluetooth device with lsusb. So I guess I just have a defective led for bt activity on the inverter card.

end of the story: once i replaced the inverter the led is still off all the time while the bt is trasmitting. so i guess its something different... i will live with it.

I have a very similar problem on my T60p. About 6 months ago, my "power" led on the lid (you know, the little circle with the 'Z' in it) just suddenly went dead. I was quite busy for my exams at that time so I just leaved it untouch and continue using it without any problem. About a week later, my BT led went dead as well. At that time, I believed that my inverter is comming to an end. How ever, I didn't care so much about that little problem, I just thought "when the whole inverter is dead, I'll replace by a new one", so, I finished my exams and enjoyed my Summer without too much attention to the 2 'dead' leds. However, a month ago, I discovered that none of my led was dead. Actually, when I close the lid to about an angle of 15 degree or so, the 2 leds light on again. I began to suspect that it's my cable that's causing the problem, surely the thing that gets affected most by closing and openning the lid is the cable, right? So I opened the machine, reseated the cable and now everything is back to normal again. Since in this case, you've already replace a new inverter (which means you have already reseated the cable), I suggest you to take a look at the other end of the cable (the end that gets attached to the mainboard) and try to reseat it, or, if you have any 'known good' cable lying around, you can give it a try. Good luck ;)
