What a find! :D

I wonder if anyone makes a 12.1" 1440x900 wide panel that Lenovo might decide to use.. nah, that'd be just too good ;)

It a good thing to find that it is a Chinese version.

In the other hand, that means it will be very expensive.

It weighs 3.77 lbs, the same as the current 1024x768 X61 tablet. Hopefully there will be a non-tablet X6* with 1280x800 that weighs much less than that.

Afaik that would be the first widescreen flexview / IPS screen.
(12")

I still prefer the 4:3 SXGA+.
I think the widescreen will add weight, and coming from an X61s the X61T isn't as light as expected.

There are some wierd things going on here. Several of the models list "WAXGA" displays. WTF is that? When you click on the details of the "WAXGA" models, the screens are listed as 1024x768. Except for the 7764DA2, the original "wide screen X61 tablet" which started this thread, which is listed as 1280x800. Is the cause of this rumor just some typos on the Lenovo web site, as suggested by JabbaJabba over at the notebookreview.com Lenovo forum?

bananaman, I suppose you are right. I am looking at that image on the site provided by the OP, and it looks more like a 4:3 display than a 16:10 one, which is disappointing. I really wish to support Lenovo's X series but as long as they stick with 1024x768, I cannot.

Hmm... Maybe WAXGA stands for "wide angle XGA"? It's not that exciting then. Almost all X61 tablets have it already...

huh?   none of the X61 tablets have WXGA.   they are all currently XGA or SXGA+.

WAXGA is simply WXGA.   it's 1280x800 no matter how you write it.

is this a typo or mistake?   perhaps, but i doubt it.

i'd like to see a 12.1" WXGA+ (1440x900) panel on the X61/X61s.   SXGA+ can stay on the X61T since 1050 pixels would be more useful in portrait view.

I think you are right. The WA in WAXGA refers to wide viewing angle, as opposed to wide screen.

Nah I already have with me the Fujitsu T2010 a 12" widescreen tablet with IPS and LED backlit screen. My previous tablet the X60 with SXGA+ seems only half as bright. The brightness of this screen is equal with that of the Sony TX LED screens. The viewing angles are as good as the IPS on the X60 too. Interestingly enough the screens are made by the same manufacturers.

The screen resolution error on the web page which started this rumor thread has been fixed now.

Too bad, I wanted it to be true.
