Hi,

I've been trying to find help but it is so difficult.

My Thinkpad T60 (1951-A47) has C2D with GMA945.
It took me long time to figure out that for me the right way to install OSX (SL 10.6.0 vanilla DVD) was:

- Change from ACHI to Compatibility (odd)
- run install with -x

I have installed SL to 2 different drives (both are 60GB).
I basically followed sebinouse notes from this forum and step 2 from http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/iboot-multibeast-install-mac-os-x-on.html as sebinouse adviced.
Installation is successfull but;
- after the install the disk with SL is not seen by IBoot bootloader CD
- I'm not able to do the fist boot to OSX

so step 17 failed ("When you get to the boot selection screen, choose your new Snow Leopard installation")

Snow Leopard and EFI partitions are there. My linux sees the SL partition and I can see that folders and files exists. But my bootloader(s) do not see the HD. I have tried both ACHI and Compatibility mode. Nothing seems to help. I can't find any advice. I'm getting crazy because I can't understand what I'm missing. Has anybody seen anything like this?

I've also tried to attach the SL disk thru USB and multibay but that does not help. Bootloader sees my Linux/Win7 but no way to get the SL disk been seen.

I will add what bootloaders I have tried and will report:
1. BootCD_MacPNT (2010 11 22 - BootCD_MacPNT.iso) from Sebinouse
2. iboot-320-tonymacx86com from tonymacx86 Forum
3. rBoor-LE ver. 2012-02-02

BootCD_MacPNT is not able to install OSX with any combination
iboot-320 installs with -x switch
rBoor-LE sees other drives but not my disk with SL

Further information: My SL partition size is only 2.9GB. I believe it is too small. I wonder why?

Solved: The OSX disk (DVD) was damaged (scrached) and running the install with -x flag meant that OSX reported that the install was successfull even it was not.

With some help I now have the DVD image installed to a hd partition and now the bootloader stars install from hd. I was able to start OSX after install but for me;

- SATA setting need to be set as "compatibility"
- use "-x"

Soon I start reading how to install kexts, I am novice with OSX.

I have now working 10.6.0 installed on a USB drive.
Everything seems to work or at least I don't know yet what doesn't.

Thank's go mainly to this forum and Chimera boot loader.

It took me some time to understand all the instructions but the end result looks quite good.

There was no step to step instructions. I believe this is what I did
1. prepare a drive with a few HSF partitions (or HSF+ not sure) with Gparted I think.
2. mounting of the HSF partition with write access is needed. This may be of help: http://superuser.com/questions/84446/ho ... read-write
3. wrote the DMG file content to a HSF partition (not sure how, however. Maybe with 7z)
4. start pc with bootloader CD which is now able to see the content of the "DVD"
5. start install (needs another HSF partition)
Otherwise I tried to follow instructions already documented to this site

The OSX install can add journaling to OSX partition (HSF -> HSF+)
This was finally quite easy, therefore I don't remember too well. My main problems was related to reading the OSX DVD but I was also messing with BIOS SATA drive settings some how.

EDIT
this is very interesting: The OSX hd was in the T-60 when I ran Ubuntu update. Seems that grub (Unbuntu bootloader) was upgraded and it recognized 4 MAC OS X instances on the 2 logical drives. It shows two (64-bit) and other two (32-bit) versions. So, I tried to run the very first 64 bit version and the OS booted up. However, keybord and pointing stick were not working. I was able surf in the net with external mouse. This kind of setup would be very nice!

Yeah this is the part I don't understand. Does the:

1. DMG file just need to EXIST as a .dmg file on that new hsf partition?
2. Or do I just need to extract the contents of the dmg over to that drive?
3. Or do I need to image the hsf partition with the dmg ?

Thank you for the help, and sorry for so many questions!

Looking the drive where the install DVD is (with Ubuntu); it is just ordinary disk with folders [Applications, bin, dev, Install Mac OS X.app, Instructions.localized, Library, Optinal Installs.localized, private, sbin, System, usr, Volumes, etc, tmp, var] and a file [mach_kernel]. The drive name is "Mac OS X Install DVD".

I believe I just extracted the contents to a HSF drive :

I don't remember which extractor program I used but seems that atleast 7-zip is able to do that (7z is the name in Ubuntu). I have used that for other purposes also.
