Did you try my SpecialKeys? It works for me on X61T, but it doesn't work for some. You can try to alter the sources if it doesn't - right now I don't have time to do it sorry.

Screen dim doesn't work at all. Just don't use it :) Or you can use a third party prog (don't remember which one) if you want to rule the brightness.

A GUID exception when trying to use Airplay via iTunes on occasion, which requires me to remove a file and then reboot, but I attribute that to the D-Link dongle. I'm not sure about that, but it's suspect for now, although it works beautifully otherwise.

I don't use SD card reader and never tried AirPlay, so I can't help you with that.

You might want to have a look at a clever utility called Ukelele (http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/page ... id=ukelele) which I used to remap the keyboard on my X60. It's a bit tedious to use in some configurations (dead-keys and such), especially since I wasn't able to re-use the current configuration to tweak it and had to start from scratch, but it's otherwise a precious tool!

I have an R61e with a T9300 cpu upgrade. In case any of you didn't know, the R61e only has a trackpoint.
I had to modify some of the voodoops2controller kexts that were posted on here. Attached is the kext that I used to get both my keyboard and trackpoint working

http://www.mediafire.com/?z49f9a5hjnlz675

This is for this system: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=97278

Okay, following the guide in this thread, along with the modified PS2 kext in my previous post. I have managed to get almost everything working by modeling my computer as an x61. I removed the Tablet and SDHC kexts, as my machine does not have those features.

The only thing that I cannot seem to get working is sound.

HOWEVER. whenever I boot from my iBoot disc, sound seems to work. I am wondering if the dsdt.aml disables AppleHDA.kext? hm.

I have tried on a X61T and a X61S and get the same problem. Using the 12/15/2011 package, I get a kernel panic on ACPIBatteryManager. If I remove the ACPIBatteryManager kext, it will boot, but there is no monitor for the battery. Since it's a laptop, I'd like to know when I'm going to lose my work.

I suspect a problem in the DSDT.aml, but I really have no idea how to troubleshoot this file.

I've been so busy lately I had to put this aside, but I would really like to knock this out. What info can I provide that might help the cause ?

I have the same KP with AppleACPIBatteryManager.kext on my x61s.
Can someone help or advice smthing with this? Maybe some dsdt editing will help, but i dont know what i need to modify, to make BatteryManager work without KP

I don't use it intentionally, but it does dim when I'm on battery to conserve power. Not a big deal, as it immediately returns when I hit the keyboard.

Fixed!
Our x61s have 2 batteries in DSDT, one called BAT0, and the second one, from UltraBay - BAT1.
So what i actually did to make it work:
- to get rid of KPs, i've made small fix in Manager sources (you can use my attached version)
- to make Manager work, i've forced BAT1 device to return that there is no battery in it. Replace _STA method with:
Code:
Method (_STA, 0, NotSerialized)
{
    Return (0x0F)
}

BatteryManager (and BatteryDevice) sources: http://www.mediafire.com/?tikr6u3kx3n5j4g
My compiled kext (universal for 32/64bit): http://www.mediafire.com/?7df18t9oltveeo2

Also you can try to use original kext with modified DSDT. There is a small chance that it will work. But i've not tried that.

Here's my new DSDT (http://www.mediafire.com/?g093x8nbxcqnwqv) and AppleHDA.kext (http://www.mediafire.com/?b7gzr2c2yr4k66b)

I added the HDEF device to my previous DSDT, and the new patched AppleHDA works better than VoodooHDA (which was giving me KPs and sound delays sometimes). It seems to me, the AppleHDA works faster than VoodooHDA - I had some delays editing source code in XCode, and now they vanished away.

Credits for AppleHDA go to vampyrex13 from osx86 forum for the files and to grandflash who pointed the link to that post.

P.S. It seems to me we need some kind of Wiki for all these hacks we made.

Can you guys please make one? I'm reading through all this and going wow! daunting task.. But I'd love to do it :)

Agree! I can add info, but someone has to manage and organize the whole thing.

BTW, did anyone make an update to 10.6.8? Does it work ok?

I did it. Unfortunately its result is less pleasing than 10.6.7. My X60T still boots, but after loginwindow is loaded, it is very slow. Takes around 1 to 2 minutes after entering password to show the desktop, 1 minute more to load all top bar icons. Wireless does not work anymore. Any click on the top bar (like wireless or sound) brings the spinning beach ball and takes 10 to 30 seconds to bring up the according menue. Same behavior when booting to safe mode. Repairing permissions / cleaning caches did not help.

So my wonderful OSX60T is f***** up and I can only blame myself...any ideas? It is a problem with the new kernel or with some new kexts? There are just 5 updated ones if I remember correctly, one of them is system.kext, framebuffer, IOfamily...

Wiki's are simple to manage. At least you can start :)

You can try to start at http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/ThinkWiki
OR

What say?

I tried the combo update two days ago, and I had the same results : system VERY VERY slow, hang on a blue screen on boot ...

I read here that I had to restore a file from 10.6.7 to make my atheros wifi to work properly : /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/Apple80211Monitor.bundle
Make a backup before updating if you need Atheros Wifi drivers.

And it did the trick ... my system is back to its normal speed.

One last thing, I lost C-State during update. I'm still looking for a solution ...

I hear from genuine Mac users about the same results - they did an update and got MacBook Pro freeze on startup, or it's very slow (some of them).

I had the same C-State loss after 10.6.7 update - it just got back to normal after several reboots and kext cache clean-ups...

Hey Guys,

i did the 10.6.8 Combo Update yesterday. Nevertheless it slows down everything. I am going back to 10.6.7 right now.

The Wiki is (would be) a good one. I could do it for the X61 Tablet. I suggest using this structure:

- DSDT fixes for each section (i.e. PCI / WAK ... )
- BIOS updates

10:6_
- Bootloader
- Device Drivers in /Extra + /S/L/E
- ....

10:7_
- Bootloader
- Device Drivers in /Extra + /S/L/E
- ....

By the way, anyone tried Lion beta?

Did you tried to restore the 80211.blundle from 10.6.7 ? and IOPCIFamily ? It could be good start before the downgrade ...

Thx for the hint! It also worked for me, but not with the 10.6.7 bundle (downloadable in the netkas comments). As I had no other I've used a bundle from a 10.5 installation - now it works again.

But I've discovered another issue, although I'm not sure whether it comes from 10.6.8: My VGA out produces a scrumbled screen on the external screen as well as on the display. Mouse arrow looks normal, but the rest is unreadable. I haven't used the vga out since 10.6.5 or so (it worked there), so I don't know when it got lost...

Anyone else with that effect?

Of course you can add them.
And i can confirm, that there is no need to fix/recompile AppleACPIBatteryManager.
Only DSDT fix is needed (to inform batterymanager that there is no battery in BAT1 bay)

About 10.6.8: i've used to install combo update on my x61s, and unfortunately i've rolled back to 10.6.7:
- you need to replace AppleACPIPlatform.kext and IOPCIFamily.kext from 10.6.7 to get rid of [PCI Configuration Begin] freeze
- p-states and c-states are not working (i've tried all methods, with legacy.kexts/dsdt/ssdt and so on) and because of that i rolled back.

Btw, i have strange situation with external display detection.
When i want to connect external monitor, i need to force detect it manually, by clicking on Detect Displays button at Display preferences (and to do the same, when i want to disconnect it)
How to force system to detect external display? Maybe some dsdt fix? I've tried to google it, but didnt found anything.

Anyone else with that effect?

Yes, I had that as well after having upgraded my X60 Tablet from Mac OS X 10.6.7 to 10.6.8. It's a 6363-2AG with an Atheros Wi-Fi replacing the original Intel 3945 card, so it should be pretty similar to yours. I think I'll do some further research on the problem next week.

Oh, and please give us an update in case you find a solution! :)

P.S.: Also willing to contribute to a wiki if it's done right ...

Ok, some news on this one. I confused some things - especially that OSX remembers settings for different displays. As I've switched my screen some weeks ago I cannot say whether this is any update issue. But so far a workaround for this one (only expanded desktop, not mirroring):

Before connecting a screen that was never connected before, do the following:

- activate display of screens in the top bar (under settings, so the small imac displays appear)
- place your mouse arrow over that icon, but do not click
- connect your display, screen gets confusing
- left click your mouse, two times down with the arrow key, press enter
- adjust settings as needed

When reconnecting the display, it remembers that settings and everything should be fine.

Old solution, sorry if known already. I will try the mirror feature further...

About VGA issues : did you tried the app "mirror" from the first post? I will try to find a cable and a screen to see if my VGA-out works on 10.6.8 ...

Thx, yes - just installed it and connected it to a keyboard shortcut. Works fine.

Nor only sleep (even mode 0 would be fine, mode one does not work due to 4gb ram) has to work for my fully working OSX60T. Working on it....

I'm experiencing strange slow downs, and i have no idea how to get rid of them.
Usually they appears at browser, when i scroll page, or when i watch some flash video on page.
The page, or video freezes for 1 second, and then continue, like it never freezed.
And, the most sad part - that freezes are repeating every 5-10 seconds.

Anyone has experienced such slow downs/freezes? Any fixes.
I've checked dsdt, syslog and kernel log, but didn't found any problems.

Maybe this?
Code:
Jul  8 14:13:19 my-pc mDNSResponder[28]: mDNSPlatformRawTime: last_mach_absolute_time 63E53CD2A065DC62
Jul  8 14:13:19 my-pc mDNSResponder[28]: mDNSPlatformRawTime: this_mach_absolute_time 63DE612E00000000

UPDATE:
Yep, the problem was with TSC sync.
I've installed new version from here (http://code.google.com/p/voodootscsync/downloads/list), and now there is no mDNSResponder errors in system log.

Hi,

has anybody successfully installed 10.6.8?

And another question: I am using MacPNT 2011 02 15, without any changes. What should I optimize for a X60s? Basically everything works except the following:

* Sleep on mode 1 when front switch is off
* No brightness control after sleep
* Flash flickers after sleep
* Slower mouse after sleep
* Still problems with VGA out. It only works if I boot the machine with VGA connected, tried "mirror", but no luck, garbled screen after connecting VGA

Regards,

Darko

Hi. I don't have a mac and have tried following the iboot step 2 method. Do iuse the iso provided by sebinhouse or the retail DVD? Either way I get kernel panic(I think) where it just says restart. I've tried typing the the PCIRootUID=1 etc and -x but still get the same outcome. What am I missing here. I'm sure I'm doing it right

Thanks

As far as I remember, you need to have a "X60 with a 10.6.0 Retail DVD" to use the BootCD Method. Doesn't work neither with a X61 nor with a 10.6.3 Retail DVD.

Boot with "-v" boot argument to have more informations about your Kernel Panic ...

This may sound odd, but I do wonder if it's possible:

Can an established OS install on a drive pulled from a MacBook, be tweaked/modded for TP compatibility/bootability while a secondary drive in a Windows or Linux environment, and become bootable as a sole drive in a TP?

I assume that to be tricky at best, and likely impossible. Yet, I would love to know. There's a rare scenario or two where this would be desirable vs. a clean install.

From the retail disk I've installed 10.6, but peripherals are acting oddly.

The ApplePS2Controller kext allows me to use the built in trackpoint and keyboard, but if I try a standard USB mouse the cursor position is only updated every two seconds. USB keyboards have the same problem, and will register any keypress as seven presses of that key :?
Tabletmagic comes up as "no tablet connected", and I'm guessing this could be part of the same issue.

It's not a hardware fault, as external devices work fine under other OS's (i.e. Ubuntu and XP tablet 2005). The processor isn't swamped either, it can handle playing flv video and dock/finder animations (although QE isn't working(yet)). Apps like iTunes and the like open in a reasonable time.

Has anyone else had this issue? I would love some help on this.

Hardware details: X60 6363P3M tablet, Core2Duo 1.5GHz.
