X200s inverter plastics

#1 Post by booysen » Wed Apr 05, 2023 5:24 am

Hi all,
I'm replacing the display in my X200s and thought I'd replace the inverter while it's apart. The original screen is working, but it's a bit dim with a slight yellow tint and small crack.

So I got a new inverter - matching P/N 42W7975 - but I notice that the replacement part does not have the semi-transparent plastic housing around the coils (transformer?) component (the plastic housing has a sticker: "19.21072.071 0269112 W12-A LF k"), nor does it have the thin transparent film covering parts of the circuit board or little rubber block stuck to the centre (back) of the inverter.

Please advise on if I should attempt to transfer these plastics and support block to the new inverter (they're stuck to the original part, and the film one covering the circuit board is very thin - may not survive the transplant) or if there is some alternative material(s) I can use - or should I just install the new inverter as-is? :?
Just to be clear: the coils on the new inverter are not exposed, they're covered by the same rectangular orange-coloured transparent plastic as on the original.

Thanks!

Update:
After seeing what appears to be a similar "uncovered" inverter installed in an X200 on the excellent thinkwiki.de "X200 Displayumbau" website --

-- I decided to install the new inverter as-is.
It's now working perfectly with the new screen (AUO B121EW03 V.6).
