Is Lenovo learning the fine art of Hype? Seems to me that there's a lot of computer journalist articles about this new machine.

More than in the past, maybe?

Not a bad thing...because it sounds like lenovo wants to counter the MacBook Air with this seemingly more versatile machine.

Interesting too, that it's offered with XP or Vista, just a "force fed" Vista unit.

it can be good advertising in some cases.   in walt's case it's a toss up as he forks out as much praise as he does criticism in his latest X300 article.

here's a direct link to his article dated february 21: http://ptech.allthingsd.com/

Nothing new in that article/video that we don't know already. I really dont see the point of comparing X300 and macbook air either ... and yeah, I'd take the X300 anydayeven if it looks "ugly" (as some people say). Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but functionality is in the brains :)

Does someone know, if the "full sized battery" sticks out,
or is the "half size battery" only for weight saving?

The battery is at the front under the palm rest. With the 3 cell battery the kb will ergonomically slope towards you, with the 6 cell battery the kb will be flat.

Don't you mean the opposite?

I wouldn't call it a review, more like a very long feature-list. A benchmark of the cpu would have been interesting.

No, the X300's battery is in the front, and the laptop body slims towards the front. A half-size battery would fit in that, a full battery will stick out, increase the height in the front and make the keyboard horizontal.
