What's the difference between models 4296, 4298, and 4299?

#1 Post by tpdi » Fri Apr 22, 2011 1:43 am

Looking at the tabbbook, I can't tell how Thinkpad X220 Tablet models 4296, 4298, and 4299 differ.

Can someone please explain to me how those models differ?

Thanks.

Basically the following...

The 4296's are TopSeller's (Best price) and have the following warranty:
Limited warranty 3-years/1-yr battery - depot repair service / service upgrades available

The 4298's have the following warranty:
Limited warranty 3-years/1-yr battery - depot repair service / service upgrades available

The 4299's have the following warranty:
Limited warranty 3-years/1-year - battery, limited onsite service, 8 am - 5 pm,
Mon - Fri, excluding holidays, next business day response / service upgrades available

But for identical machines (?) the prices vary by hundreds of dollars:

For example, the 4296-37U, the 4298-43U and the 4299-34U all appear to be i7, 320G 7200rpm HDD, with fingerprint reader, bluetooth, camera, and Intel 6205, and bundled with the ultrabase.
But the prices, respectively, are $1720, $2482, and $2567.

Why is the 4298 $762 more for the same specs? Or do the specs differ??

TopSeller prices are much better than the others.

Difference in warranty accounts for the difference in price of the last two.

Thanks for bearing with me. Am I losing out on anything by getting a Topseller, then?

Only if they don't offer the configuration that you want. For instance, there currently aren't any TopSeller models of the X220 (doesn't apply to tablet models) with the Premium IPS display.
