Perhaps the people interested in the non-S upgrade a lot more, but due to this really complicated way of buying with pre-ordering and waiting for months, most of them just don't have the nerve to wait.

If 20-30 kits are build and list on ebay or aliexpress, perhaps will be sold in bigger quantities if that is the main concern for Javi.

I have already bought a display and want to know if that was waste of time and money.

Nothing to do with nerve. It's about the work involved and other things demanding attention.

Also, 20-30 kits is a drop in the bucket. If someone is willing to set up and front an order for like say.... 500 kits, I'm sure Javi would be more inclined to pick up and rush work on it. :)

These type of kits and upgrades, will likely stay focused for the chinese domestic market. There's enough business on the 51nb forums alone to keep them busy. The creators have no reason to deal with english-speakers on aliexpress or ebay, most of whom need their hands held each step of the upgrade process and the risk of a chargeback.

Unfortunately my screen does not work perfectly, it shows in the background a bright white frame and sometimes it also flickering.
Very good to see on the right side and especially on the right down corner.

Someone has seen already this problem?

Edit was is not possible, I think because an admin has changed the embedding of the image. This is the reason why i replay ...

For me it looks as if it's the background lighting, if I reduce the brightness it goes be better.
Actually I wanted to ask whether the error can be fault of the kit or a defect of the screen is?
Someone of you had similar problems with the kit?

You sure you got authentic AUO panel?

See my links below, here are 2 images of the authentic panel I got...

More info about the panel here:
viewtopic.php?f=45&t=118070&start=540#p779392

This was a used pulled panel from a Dell E7440...I ended up getting 2 kits and the panels from a US ebay seller....installed in a T430s and T420s...

Both working flawlessly since last year

I tried the B140HAN01.2 from Yoga 14 top assembly.
My suggestion is leave these screens for the Yoga users please.

I ended up with a screen with dust inside, a touch glass panel That I have no idea how to use/sell,
It's also worth mentioning that The B140HAN01.2 in this top assembly lacks the screw holes.

The domestic market are more or less saturated now.
shipping, together with the source of the authentic screens, plus my lack of time, are the biggest problems

You can still purchase through the link for the replacement kits FYI

Thank you for your reply.

I am very sure that the display is authentic. The sticker is in the right place and looks authentic, the printed number should also fit.
Here are two images

http://i65.tinypic.com/28socg0.jpg
http://i65.tinypic.com/e87tl3.jpg

The last days it was okay, no more errors, until now.
I've worked the whole day with the dockingstation and now just open Notekook and it flickers really bad.

It looks like that now:

http://i68.tinypic.com/rgyu8o.jpg

I think all cables are connected properly and really hope it's not fault of kit. I will write to the panel seller.

WOOOOOO! easy assembly, perfect working screen! its SO GOOD.
i used the amazon seller LCDOLED (not the ebay seller LCDOLED).
(im reasonably sure its a legit auo B140HAN01.2)

p.s.: thanks for the color profile, it was necessary. i freaked out how yellow it was at first, but color reproduction is now best ive ever seen on a thinkpad.

If you look at RMSMajestic's original post - looks like he has 10 kits left over for sale....just use the links in the original post to pay....

Now I am in a bit of dilemma - I have a T420s i7 that needs a screen replacement - do I wait for the WQHD kits (not knowing when those are available) or do I take the sure thing and buy a FHD kit now?

Decisions, decisions.....lol.....

Is the link referring to the Ebay link, or the specific country paypal links? The Ebay link is an expired listing, but I want to make sure...

Thanks

I's the PayPal payment links, when the pre-order period first ended they had strikes through them.

I believe the Ebay listing is just for information on the product

ok, I just purchased another FHD kit via the Paypal links (worldwide) in RMSMajestic's OP - figured a bird in hand is worth two in the bush.

If I don't end up using it, I can either make it available back to members or keep it as spare for my 2 other T series laptops.....

Now to find a screen!

P.S. I was also thinking that WQHD (high resolution) on the 14" might be too high of a resolution.....is there such a thing? Figured it is a smaller screen....

I also ordered an extra FHD kit as a spare. You cant be sure about their continued availability, and I might get a T430s down the track.

Does anyone have the link to that colour profile (auo B140HAN01.2 and 1.3) from RMSMajestic?

I grabbed a FHD kit as well. Once it comes in I will begin the quest for a new screen.

Thanks for all the help!

After months of this kit collecting dust I've finally made the swap last week and let me first of all say: THANK YOU RMSMajestic for offering this possibility, your work is highly appreciated!

I can confirm the problems with getting the right screen. I had to buy two of them until I got the right one. I didn't even bother with Amazon and went for a dealer on Ebay but he sent me a 'equivalent' LG panel even though the exact part description suggested it'd be the AUO panel.

After countless phone calls and research I found a panel dealer out of the UK who was able to guarantee that the panel I ordered would be exactly the one they'll send out and they did. I got the B140HAN01.2. With it everything worked flawlessly. I used the Windows 10 built in color calibration tool to remove most of the yellow tint and adjust cleartype settings. What a world of difference guys! Finally I have the only thing I missed from my former T440s back - the FHD panel. But now housed in a classic chassis - T430s.

Here the result:

Working like a charm for over a week now.

Cheers!

Could you share the UK dealer that had the correct panels with us?

Sorry for the delay guys, dealer is called

'bumblesale'

I spoke to Kerry and made sure that the exact panel was delivered which was no problem at all and worked like a charm. Item and packaging were flawless. Panel works to this day without fault or issue. Can highly recommend them.

Hi everyone,

I finally jumped the apple ship and bought a t420!! I'm reading that screen upgrade should be a #1 priority. Are there any FHD boards still available for the non-s version?

If not, is the only screen upgrade option to get HD+ 1600x900? Link: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/T420_and_ ... en_Upgrade

Thanks

Yep, for the non-s you need to get the HD+ screen.

Any update on the WQHD screen adapters, now that Chinese new years is over? I have a T430S that could use a new screen.

Are there any FHD boards still available for the t420s version? I'm thinking of returning my t420 and getting a t420s just for the better screen upgrade.

*shukmeister*, if you can get one of the upgrade boards still (and the first post implies you can), i say you should definitely return the t420 and get a t420s or t430s.

the B140HAN01.2 is so good. im as impressed with my new screen as i was disgusted with the original (B140RW02, i think?) and that was the worst screen ive ever seen on a laptop.
also the upgrade is fast and easy, with clear instructions. the only hard part is finding a real screen (or so i hear, i got lucky).

(also, having owned both, t430s is better in every way than t420s, except you cant replace the bios on t430s to get 802.11ac wireless, and its still a little more expensive)

The t430s has the awful island style keyboard, good thing you can move a keyboard from t420s to t430s.

!!! I DID NOT KNOW THIS !!!

i have just swapped the keyboard (from W520, actually, T420 is long gone), and flashed the EC with thinkpad-ec (bless their little hearts), and now i have a beautiful 7-row keyboard in my T430s, less than one hour from learning of its existence!

i still have to sand down or chop off the little nubs or whatever, but [censored], this is so nice. thanks so much for the tip!
also, thanks to rmsmajestic for sending extra keyboard-heatpads for the edp board. didnt anticipate ever needing more than 1 til right now.

Sorry about the lateness, I have been moving from NJ to Washington DC recently (imagine the pain of moving 23 computers ><)
and I just found out that my T420s test bed died :/
I will try to figure things out ASAP and get the kit on their way before the end of this weekend.

hey RMSMajestic, all the best with your move! Sounds pretty exciting to be moving to Washington DC!

ANDD.....just a heads-up for the rest, I just received a notification from Paypal that my shipment was shipped out - looks like RMSMajestic just shipped some kits out!

Woot, now to find a screen - darn, a quick check on ebay shows my previous US seller is no longer selling screens (or anything for that matter) - I found a couple but the prices are much higher....darn!
