T400-6 months old is dead on Boot

Hi,
i have a almost new T400 and it will not even get past the "to interrupt normal startup" Thinkpad screen. I am searching posts as fast as I can to see it it is something basic. it i sunder warranty but I would appreciate some help

Just trying to avoid my companies standard image load :-)

Update- I removed HD and DVD drive and Battery as suggested by some in other forum- no change in behavior
Just trying to avoid my companies standard image load :-)

Remove the battery, memory, optical drive, wifi card and hard drive. Press the power button 10 times for a second, then one last time for 30 seconds. Connect the ac and power it on. If it doesn't beep, the board is most likely dead. If it does beep try putting things back one at a time to see if you can find the culprit.

Thanks for that Fred. Did as you instructed. No luck :( Thinkpad support was called. verdict; Fried motherboard.

Try the press and hold method.. Static electricity elimination.
It worked for me once.

It's dead, Jim.

I had a motherboard die on me like that.
It wasn't in warranty, then it was, then it wasn't again (long story short it's still dead).

Copied 250 GB of data, verified it (I was resizing a partition at the beginning of a drive), rebooted, DEAD.

So yeah, use the warranty.
