R61: Fn-F12 Not Hibernating

#1 Post by ArtShapiro » Thu Jun 04, 2015 2:09 pm

The patient is a Win10 R61. I recently did a clean install of Win10 (latest 10130 build) because I had accidentally installed the 32 bit version a few months back, so the machine would only use 3 Gigs of memory. So I installed the x64 version and all my programs. What a pain.

While the various Fn combos such as the Thinklight and brightness up/down work properly, the F12 combo is not causing hibernation. I've installed the OnScreenDisplay hotkey driver - the only facility that the installation wizard is offering - and it's giving a visible indication for brightness, but not for the Thinklight despite that feature working properly.

Am I missing something obvious with respect to the hibernation failure? Obviously it is easily performed from the shutdown menu, but Fn-F12 is easier.

Aha - the solution: posting to Thinkpads.com apparently fixed the issue.

Upon another reboot, the key combination suddenly appears to be working, after a couple days of being non-functional.
