Question about Z61T sound issue

#1 Post by blink » Mon Sep 21, 2015 11:50 am

Sorry i couldnt see a section for Z series so thought i would post here as it is similar spec wise to the T60.
My old Z61t has never had sound from the speakers since i purchased a long while back, spares/repair 2nd hand. It has served me well & was never a problem for me as just used as a media player, svideo hooked up to old CRT TV, reason i got it :) & the audio out hooked up to my amp Outputs worked fine.
However i am now passing it on to a family member & would like to get the speakers working for them if possible? Any suggestions what the problem may be & if there is an easy fix?
If not or too expensive no major problem i will probably get some cheap portable speakers for it but thought i would ask 1st.

Thanks
Many Thanks for any advice, shared knowledge & wisdom is a wonderful thing.

I guess the first thing I would check would be to make sure the speaker connector is plugged into the system board.

The switch inside the headphone jack may be stuck. Try spraying some contact cleaner in and inserting/removing a cable a few times, while the machine is turned off of course.
