SBWebCtl.dll flagged as Malware; on all 3 A31p's
This may seem more like a Windows XP question than a Thinkpad question, but I'm posing it here because this file (SBWebCtl.dll) is on all 3 of my IBM A31p computers, and seems to have been there since the original installation. Two of the machines are on SP2, and one is on SP3. I recently had trouble with the SP3 machine, thought it might be a virus, ran Avira from a different system disc, and it caught this as one of two viruses (the other was NNeRef.dll). I'm wondering if this might be a Thinkpad-specific file that is causing a false positive with the antivirus. Don't know what the file does, but Avira (and the several forums I've visited looking for info) all insist it is a distributed virus. The file info says it was created in 1999. The original version on my machines is from 2001. How could it be sitting there all this time and suddenly turn into a virus, unless it was hijacked? But none of the file properties have changed. I don't get this. Anyone else come across it on a Thinkpad? I used the A31p OEM disc to install the system on all three machines when I upgraded to faster and bigger hard drives.
