A SATA-modded T43p, originally 2668-VQ7, running W7 Home:

WEI: 3.8

CPU (Intel SL7VB, PM 780 2.26 Ghz, Dothan Core, 2MB L2 cache) : 4.1

RAM (2GB PC2-5300) : 4.4

GPU (ATi Fire GL V3200) Aero : 4.0

GPU (gaming) : 3.8

HDD (Hitachi 320GB/7200) : 5.9

Not bad at all for a model introduced almost seven years ago...

Well, reaffirms my disappointment that I can't put 16gb of RAM in my T410... this system scores well in comparison to new ones above:

Processor 6.9 (Core i5-560M)
RAM 6.9 (PC3 8500 speed)
Graphics 4.6 (Intel integrated - I don't need discrete graphics)
Gaming 5.2 (odd this is higher than graphics score)
Hard Drive 5.5 (running Windows 7 Home Premium on an old 200gb 7200 RPM drive in the ultrabay for the test)

I'm sure the disk score would be much better on the SSD, but I have only Ubuntu on the SSD as I use that OS 99.9% of the time.

Couple of basic novelty Thinkpads in my collection I happen to have Win 7 on right now:

Thinkpad Z61t - "Striker"

Processor - Core Duo T2500 2GHz - 4.5
RAM - 2GB DDR2 - 4.9
Graphics - Aero Performance - 3.3
Gaming Graphics - Intel GMA 950 - 3.2
Hard Disk - SATA Seagate 7200RPM 250GB - 5.9

WEI - 3.2

Thinkpad X61 - "Rapide"

Processor - Core Duo L2500 1.83 GHz - 4.3
RAM - 1.5GB DDR2 - 4.5
Graphics - Aero Performance - 2.8
Gaming Graphics - Intel GMA 950 -3.1
Hard Disk - OCZ Vertex 2 SSD 60GB - 7.1

WEI - 2.8

and for lulz:
Thinkpad G41 - "Citadel"

Prcoessor - Pentium 4 2.6 GHz - 2.9
RAM - 768 MB DDR2 - 3.4
Graphics - Aero Performance - 1.0(Aero disabled)
Gaming Graphics - Intel Extreme Graphics 1 - 1.0
Hard Disk - 80GB 5400RPM IDE - 3.5

WEI - 1.0 (no Win7 driver for Intel Extreme Gfx, huge disappointment. Other than that, did alright for an old computer)

Just for comparison:

Toshiba X775-3DV82B - "Hellion"(my expendable work/gaming machine)

Processor - Intel Core i7-2670QM, 2.2 GHz 8-core - 7.5
RAM - 8GB DDR3 - 7.6
Graphics - Aero Performance - 7.2
Gaming Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M - 7.2
Hard Disk - Seagate 7200RPM 500GB - 5.9

WEI - 5.9

I should probably consider a SSD.
Trying my hardest to collect Thinkpads, but college and being broke kinda gets in the way. However...
701C, 760, 770, X24, T30, G41, A31p, T43p, T60/61 Frankie, Z61p, X60 SXGA+, W700ds

and yes. I am a bit of a lunatic.

T42 2.0GHz/2GB/ATI 9700 :

Yes, very low on Aero, but doesnt seem to be a problem, works smoothly.
Have ordered SATA caddy and Intel 330 SSD, that should improve the disk score I hope :D

EDIT:
The SSD-in-Caddy plan failed, it simply would not work, so I stuck an ordinary Samsung HM250HI sata disk in the caddy, and it improved the score from 4.4to 5.7
I think I will accept this as end of the line as far as upgrades go on this old banger :D

Yesterday put together my T61p Frankenpad and measured W7 WEI also:

Processor: 6.1 (T8300 2.4GHz @ Dual-IDA 2.6 GHz)
Memory: 6.1 (2x2 GB DDR2-677)
Graphics: 5.6 (QuadroFX 570M 128MB)
Gaming Graphics: 5.8 (QuadroFX 570M 128MB)
Primary hard disk: 7.7 (Crucial C300 SSD 128GB, @SATAII thanks to Middleton BIOS)

With the brand new UXGA LED FlexView it is pretty much a dream machine.

Impressive.

Curiosity is killing this old cat: have you overclocked the GPU to get that score? The best I ever got from stock NVS 140M was something like 4.0 - I think...

No argument from me on that statement, although the one I'm building for myself will be somewhat different in the terms of specs...

No, all clocks are in stock specification. Don't know how to treat unlocked Dual-IDA multiplier on T8300 though?

And the Quadro FX 570M is much faster than NVS 140M, despite both having 128 MB of VRAM. When RAM was 2 GB and no Dual-IDA on T8300, the Aero score was 4.6 iirc, but it gained a full point when upping the RAM to 2x2 GB and enabling Dual-IDA.

What, are you planning to LED-mod the QXGA panel and throw in a X9000 CPU??
