Modded Vista ATI drivers - they work for me!

I was trying to solve a slow scrolling problem in Opera, so I decided to try the modded ATI Radeon Vista drivers for my ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 to use in Windows 7 beta. Works just fine. Added features and controls are available in ATI's Catalyst Control Center.

Lenovo does not offer any ATI driver package for Vista for my T42 with the Mobility Radeon 9600, hence the reason to try the modded drivers. Downloaded the ATI Radeon 9600 desktop driver package from ATI and modded with Mobility Modder.NET. Turned off UAC as per the instructions for modding the drivers, then after all was done, I turned UAC back on. Be sure and follow instructions on the second link below if you decide to try this.

BTW, this may have helped a little with scrolling in Opera (not real sure), but UNchecking the box in Opera > Preferences > Advanced > Browsing: "Smooth scrolling" helped quite a bit.

I missed the cutoff for downloading the official Win 7 beta, and not interested in messing with a torrent. So I'm reading everything in site to prep for using the RC as it becomes available. I enjoyed your post as it gave me just one more area to read up on. Especially as a Opera user.
