Win 7 Build 7048 x64 on X200
We don't yet have a general thread so let's start it up.
Admin comment: Let's not, build 7048 is not in wide release. Thread topic changed to a realistic thread scope.
X200 7458-85G
Windows 7 Ultimate build 7048 64bit
1. Hotkey utility doesn't work properly.
Installation gives error (already discussed)
After clicking through various EXE's in utility's folder Fn+F5 started working, even after restart.
Backlight regulation stops working completely after standby. Both Fn+Home/End reports change but it doesn't work. Windows Power Management's changing doesn't work as well. Strangely changing it before standby works, but utility doesn't report anything. Restart cures everything, but is very annoying
2. ThinkVantage GPS crashes on start, even in Vista compatability mode. It should start working when giving AT commands to appropriate COM, but haven't tested it yet.
3. Ericsson WWAN works fine, but still requires AT command for initialization without Access Connections. I've heard that W7 supports WWAN card natively, but there seems to be no support so far.
4. Fingerprint works fine with Authentec drivers, however it doesn't use builtin stack.
X60 1709-something
Windows 7 Ultimate build 7000 32bit
1. Fingerprint works fine with UPEK drivers.
2. Random BSOD when updating network drivers.
3. Broadcom BlueTooth drivers from Lenovo at the time didn't work properly (about 2 months ago). Newer ones (unofficial) worked fine.

ThinkPad and OS in my signature
Everything (OSD, Hotkey, Power Manager) works ok except for one thing: under advanced display settings trying to open the OSD tab produces explorer hang.

Re: Win 7 Build 7048 x64 on X200
I have been running 7077 for a few days now.
- Hotkey Utility runs fine now
- Backlight management is still broken
- Display drivers are not functioning normally with latest W7 builtin and latest Intel(display driver has stopped functioning every once in a while)

Re: Win 7 Build 7048 x64 on X200
Just installed 7077 x64 last night on my new x200 refurb
Active connections errored on boot until i ran the application in compatibility mode once, set up a few profiles, then it boots up fine now.
WWAN Ericsson drive integrates perfectly
GPS works fine
Win7 beta build of active protection works fine
Hotkey is fine, but lcd brightness doesn't show a gague, on the upside, volume mute button will unmute (unlike on the x41 I last tested on)
Power Management seems fine, but CPU doesn't seem to clock down... Backlight is managed however.
Vista modem driver is reporting cannot start, haven't tweaked much
Don't have Bluetooth or Fingerprint Reader to test

- Install 7100 x64
Restart
- Activate Windows
- 7jif11ww Lenovo System Interface
- 7zvu09ww Hotkey
Bypass errors (May be related to brightness status not showing up)
- 7zu204ww EasyEject Utility
- 7vr109ww Intel AMT Management Engine
Install in Vista Compatibilty
- 7vr212ww Intel AMT
Install in Vista Compatibilty
- 7uwc44ww Wireless WAN
- 7xcv26ww ThinkVantage Access Connections
- 7xgp10ww ThinkVantage GPS
use "setupGPS" not "setup_x64"
- 7zku53ww Power Management
- 7zu413ww Power Manager
- 6ask08ww ThinkVantage Active Protection
Restart
System should have everything running, and on my test 2.26/2gb/60GB configuration, these are the WEI scores:
Processor: 5.8
Memory: 5.5
Graphics: 4.1
Gaming: 4.9
Hard DIsk: 4.6
I've run into some issues with the default Intel graphics driver not loading (and power management on it not kicking in); I've found that the newer Vista x64 driver does the trick (although gaming graphics take a drop in WEI, but I haven't benchmarked to check, they shouldn't change the performance, only possibly supported features)
- winvista64_15124 Intel Chipset Graphics
Restart
WEI scores after the install, but at least hd videos and all don't bluescreen the Intel graphics driver:
Processor: 5.8
Memory: 5.5
Graphics: 4.1
Gaming: 3.4
Hard DIsk: 4.6

7100 x64 now
darn me, i just can't make backlight work after standby.
Works fine after restart but stops working after first standby, can anybody confirm?
Does GPS require Access Connections. I don't like it and GPS still crashes without it (and with it). Still works fine when giving AT commands to COM ports.

Re: Win 7 Build 7048 x64 on X200
I swore I had written something about backlight control flaking out after wake from sleep, but alas, yeah- I prefer hibernate myself, but it does seem true that there's a few outstanding issues still.
Woke this morning and found that after a battery-initiated hibernate, the cpu fan wouldn't go down properly either.. I don't remember seeing that on a normal hibernate, but alas, I'd say it's quite functional, just not "perfect" until Lenovo checks all their drivers/utilities against 7...
regarding gps- no clue, i rarely use the system outside, and every time I take it out, I forget to do a full test of the gps...
I can't seem to get a fix in car or train, but the satellite time seems to kick in fine...

Donzoomik: What are those AT commands of which you speak?
Re: Win 7 Build 7048 x64 on X200
I'm guessing he means using it as a serial gps device with software like google earth pro, streets and trips, etc

Re: Win 7 Build 7048 x64 on X200
The Sierra Wireless 3G Watcher supports GPS in the Sierra Wireless devices that have that feature. I have a Sierra Wireless 881 PCMCIA Cardbus card that has the GPS feature. I had to update the firmware on the card before the feature showed up in 3G Watcher though. For those that have Sierra Wireless devices, try 3G Watcher.

No, not client software.TJMacGyver wrote:Donzoomik: What are those AT commands of which you speak?
Since Thinkvantage GPS keeps crashing on me all the time, i went out to Google and found a list of AT commands, that activate GPS. Since Vista/W7 no longer includes HyperTerminal, i used Putty.
AT+CFUN=1
AT*E2GPSCTL=1,1,1
AT*E2GPSNPD
And magically the card starts spitting out NMEA. I can't figure out a way to script it, because Windows doesn't seem to let you access COMs via CMD or VBS.
Only way to stop it seems to be reseting the card via hardware switch.
Since i don't use Access Connections, i have to bootstrap modem part as well to use correct AP. AT commands to the rescue again.
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet.emt.ee"
All info from:

Sierra utility is useless to me, since i dont have Sierra card (GSM on this side of the ocean )

Re: Win 7 Build 7048 x64 on X200
I have now gotten the GPS to engage, is there anyway to use the data in some form of map software?
Re: Win 7 Build 7048 x64 on X200
I got the GPS from my Sierra Wireless 881 AirCard to work with Microsoft Streets & Trips 2002 in XP. In Streets & Trips go to: Tools > GPS > Configure GPS receiver. I had to change the COM port in Device Manager for Ports > NMEA Port to COM 2 as Microsoft Streets & Trips 2002 only supports COM Ports up thru COM 7. I believe when I originally got my GPS working the COM Port was 13 - which was too high for Microsoft Streets & Trips 2002.
Of course there is other software you can use. I know that Garmin makes such software.
