Microsoft OneDrive offline support

#1 Post by Temetka » Sat Jun 07, 2014 4:10 am

Ok,

So I was a pretty heavy springpad user. Now the service is shutting down and they have graciously allowed me to export my data to a OneNote file. This is fine by me as I really, really like OneNote.

That being said it's stored in my OneDrive account and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to download it to my local PC so I can back it up to my external HD.

So does my file live forever in the cloud or can I take back control of MY data?

Thanks.

Personally I wouldn't store ANYthing on a Micro$haft-owned drive, whether cloud or something else...
But this might do the trick you're after: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2097982/ ... s-8-1.html

Yeah, I read that article. I did try and follow the steps, but being as I am on Windows 7 they didn't work.

I do have the ZIP file Springpad sent me. Maybe I can import that into OneNote myelf. I don't really want to spend a few hours re-organizing all my articles again. I had about 600 stored in springpad.

Simply open it locally in OneNote and "Save As".

Yeah.

I have to right click on the notebook and so save as. Then it says not synced. I've synced it 5 times.

I'll try again in a hour or so and see how it goes.

OMFG.

I finally managed to get a local copy of the file.

I had to change the sync location from the stupid onedrive folder to my own local folder.

Prior to that I had told it sync over and over and over again. It always completed and gave no errors. But when I right clicked and told it to "Save As" it said it wasn't synced. This is why I greatly dis-trust the cloud.

Sync is a 4 letter word.
