Scale/Balance: Mettler Toledo PC4000

Hi

I bought my first scale:(It is a kind of laboratory scale)
Digital scale/Balance: Mettler Toledo PC4000 (Switzerland 1980's) max.4000grams - 0.1grams.
- Is my scale missing the "top head" ? I don't know the real term. Is it "weighing pan/plate" ?
(and why the disc-part has a hole in it ?)
