[Mod edit: I've added a large pic warning to the topic since some folks browse this forum on cell phones or slow connections. I've left the photos intact, though, because some folks may find them helpful.]

I've been asked by a friend to try and retrieve some data from a Thinkpad 760ED laptop. It has Windows 98 installed. It boots most times but has some checkdisk issues.

I'm not at all concerned about preserving the operating system, but I would like to get the data off of the drive. I've pulled the drive from the chassis and would like to connect it to another computer to recover what I can.

Question: Is the connector on this drive any sort of standard? I'm assuming I'll have to buy or borrow an adapter to do what I want to do. Is the connector proprietary? Does anyone know of somewhere I might be able to purchase a device that would allow me to connect this drive to another machine via USB? I have included photos of the drive below.

Thanks in advance!

Having never owned a 760ED ThinkPad I can only guess...but...I think if you open up that case/caddy in the pictures you should find a standard IDE hard drive inside that could be connected with a USB adapter.
