Replacing Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 card with WWAN Card

#1 Post by Kemun » Sat Mar 01, 2014 5:37 am

I have Thinkpad Edge E431 which has two PCI Express card slot of different form factor. The first one being PCI Express

Mini Card slot occupied by Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 and the second slot is PCI Express M.2 Card slot for SSDs/WWAN

card. I have been searching WWAN Card with PCI Express M.2 form factor but unable to find one in my locality. However,

there are vendors in my locality selling WWAN card which is compatible with PCI Express Mini Card slot.
My question being, is it possible to remove the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 and replace it with WWAN card. I have USB

wireless LAN card so I don't bother removing the internal wireless card. The laptops comes with WWAN antenna. It also has

SIM Card slot underneath the battery.
I have modded the BIOS so there shouldn't be any problem of laptop rejecting the card.

Thanks in advance and any help would be really appriciated.

Regards
Kemun
