L430: keyboard backlight

#1 Post by jal2 » Sat Aug 23, 2014 2:42 pm

Hi,

has anyone already tried to mod a L430 (or L530) for a working keyboard backlight? Would be nice in the absence of the Thinklight on these models.
Does anyone own the schematics of a L430/530 and is willing to share them? This would be really helpful!

Cheers,
jal2

Meanwhile I've got the schematics of a L430. It seems like all pins necessary for the keyboard backlight are connected in the L430:

pin 21 - output from the kbd, LOW if BL available
pin 25 - PWM input in the kbd, LOW = off
pin 29 - 5V Vcc for BL, fused with 1.5A

So the lockout of keyboards with BL in the L430 seems to be inside the embedded controller firmware alone.
