Unauthorized network card L530 and Ericsson F5521gw

#1 Post by christiande » Sun Mar 24, 2013 4:12 am

hi

I know that topic is repeated but i have not found a solution for my problem.
I have a new ThinkPad L530 2481-3PG and want to get a Ericsson F5521gw Mobile Broadband Minicard Composite Device in it running.

After I had plugged in the device I can not boot anymore.

The BIOS stops with : Unauthorized network card ......

I have already installed the latest BIOS Version.

I dont know what else to do. Why it doesnt work?

Can anybody help me please?

kind regards
Christian

The only two whitelisted WWAN cards for L530 are (source):
60Y3257 Sierrawireless Gobi-3000 WWAN WW SKU
60Y3297 Ericsson H5321gw WWAN WW SKU

Your F5521gw is not a whitelisted card, therefore you need a hacked BIOS to circumvent the built-in card whitelist. Unfortunately, a brief look at the usual place indicates that no one has been able to flash a modded BIOS image for the ##30 generation ThinkPads without using hardware flashers.

In conclusion, you can't use your F5521gw in the WWAN slot of your L530 for now.
