Screen Brightness doesn't adjust in Linux

#1 Post by Machinus » Tue Sep 30, 2014 1:29 pm

In order to change brightness settings, I have to put the laptop to sleep and then revive it. From restart or shut down, the brightness configuration doesn't enable.

Is there an easy way to fix this so that my brightness settings will work from startup? I use Kubuntu.

Hi, what model of Thinkpad are you using, also what version No of Kubuntu are you using as the Thinkpad drivers come bundled with the kernel, but only on more recent releases.

On any recent Linux install I have done on a Thinkpad I get full OSD for screen brightness/volume etc... The only exception I have on my X220 running Debian testing is that the Mic Mute button doesn't work out of the box.
Daily use: X220, T410
Collection: 4xT20, T23, T60 (Pinkpad for my daughters), X22 (password locked), X24, 2xR40e, A20m, 600e, 701c
