fixing 'sensors fans' applet in mint/cinnamon

#1 Post by tarvoke » Sat Feb 27, 2016 3:20 pm

just some random nonsense for the neurotic/ocd among us (i.e. likely most of us lol)

there's a nice applet for Gnome/Cinnamon that shows fan speed in the system tray (and if you click on it, shows the entire lmsensors output)

http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/199

but.................. the author sort of managed to break it and it hasn't worked correctly for a year or more.

but it still works great with a couple minor tweaks on:

Code: Select all

~/.local/share/cinnamon/applets/sensorsFans@bi-ni.com/applet.js
so basically just install the applet, then delete it, then replace the above applet.js file with the following, then add it again.

no rocket-surgery, just a couple edits I did to the parsing.
go away.
