How do I turn off battery charging over 95%

#1 Post by jaspen-meyer » Sun Jun 12, 2016 5:30 am

I've read people set their machines to stop charging the battery once it reaches a certain level.
I don't understand the logic here - is it just to lower the charging cycle count?

Anyway, how do I tell my machine to stop charging? I'm using Debian.

Also, what is the command to see the gory details of the battery usage (cycle count, etc)?

Use Tp smapi.

Why? It is said that at 100% charge the battery degrades significantly faster than at 80% or even 95%. If you subscribe to this theory, then 95% seems like a good compromise between battery longevity and available capacity at time of need.
