I just installed Arch on one of the partitions of my X220 (along with Win 7, Fedora 15, and Mageia 1). It's been an adventure so far...

I installed Xfce for the DE along with SLiM for the display manager. Got LAN and WLAN working. Still trying to figure out some of the basics.

Glad to see another Archer on here. The wiki is a excellent source of information as is the Arch BBS (Forums). You can also check them on irc.freenode.net at #archlinux if you have a registered nick.

I can also help if you need it. Just post your questions or concerns here.

Nice to see another Arch user!

Fn and volume keys tend to work straight out the box in my experience, unless the machine has a peculiar sound setup (R31 springs to mind). I can't say for sure, but if you do have problems Tpb is your friend.

It also means you can set your Lenovo/Access IBM/ThinkPad key. I use mine to open a terminal window.

A fellow Archer

I stored away my HDD with Windows 7 on it and replaced it with an Arch one. Only its 30gb smaller and ancient... But its an original IBM travelstar. I did this because I am trying to figure out why all controls suddenly stop. And one possible solution was Linux.

edit: that drive was old. I got a better one with openSUSE now

Tried to install arch on the X230, couldn't get it to work.
Tried linux mint for a few months, then decided to try cinnarch (arch + cinnamon)
http://www.cinnarch.com/

It runs great, much faster than Linux Mint.Good battery life too!

I have been using Arch XFCE w/Compiz since my initial post on this thread. I like this combo a lot.

Regardless, Cinnarch does look interesting. May have to give it a tryout soon. :)
