Has anyone else had problems on audio drivers?

Any ideas?

welcome to the forum! :D

I think you got Z60 and T60 series notebooks mixed up, so I've moved it here to the Z forum.

I had the same problem when installing windows fresh for my z60t. Luckily I had a backup of C: drive before I reinstall, so I still have access to the DRIVERS folder. I found that I had to install the included driver before I can install the 77a215ww.

I can send the driver to you if you want, ... I was going to attach the file here, but I don't know how.

The hotfix content is actually similar to the drivers from lenovo. jpkeisala, if you want to try the hotfix, get it from here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111

own6volvos : You missed another 8, in KB88111. It should've been KB888111.

I am having the same problem and the Microsoft KB article (888111)
only contains information and no link to the hotfix driver as far as I
can see.

Can someone point me at the download location or send me the driver?

I have a z60m with XP Prof. SP2 (English).

Thanks!

Apparently HP has noticed microsofts reluctance to provide important patches.

Amrita, thanks very much for the link. It really helped me solving the audio problem.

By the way, I noticed something though, my power scheme used to have ThinkPad Recommended/Enhanced or something like that before the clean install but now I don't have it anymore.

Any recommendation, how to get that back?

Hi folks,
I have a T60p wich I reinstalled and have the missing HDA Audio bus driver problem too.

The knowledge base from MS provides some info but not the driver. I got the files (888111) from the URL "amitra" sent but I can't install them. I could really use some help.

Thanks in advance

Cheers!
Hernan

guys, as i wrote in the t60 forum, the patch you need is already on your pre installed hd. just search it, i think it is in an extra folder somewhere....

You have to consider that if someone is reinstalling the OS it is very likely that the HDD has been wiped out so no more drivers on any hidden partition. All the resources need to be downloaded again.

I found the solution by installing the driver_audio_microsoft_bus.exe
I can't remember where I got it from but a search in google will do it.

When you install it you will see no text but only ??? (question marks), you'll see two buttons, click the one on the left (that would be OK) and it will install the drivers. It may look scary but hey, I had nothing on that machine, just reinstalled, so I took the chance, it works.

Cheers!

Took some digging, but here's an answer straight from IBM. I experienced this issue on a fresh Windows install on a T60P and this download did the trick.

I couldn't get any of the links above to give me satisfaction but I did find the elusive Microsoft patch elsewhere so I have copied it to the following URL. This file fixed my T61 running WXP SP2.

http://coppice.dyndns.org/eric/888111/888111US.exe

All I ask in return is that you visit my website.

Lenovo has it available for download on the following webpage - including other language versions.

I got the fix (kb888111) and applied it and it allows me to install the current SoundMax driver, but when I reboot it causes the "Blue Screen of Death" with adihdaud.sys being the culprit. I have to boot into safe mode then unistall the 888111 patch and it will boot back up.

Anyone else had to deal with this?

for the life of me I can't get this fixed. I bought a T60 that had a basic reinstall done and I'm now dealing with the "The HDA Audio bus driver..." issue to get the sound working.

If I understand correctly, I need to install the MS hotfix first, then install the kb888111xp2en.exe file from the lenovo site?

I just can't understand why it's not working for me...

******** Fix **********

Finally, I got mine working! I had to install a bios update from Lenovo first. So, the order of operations is:

1. Apply the latest bios update for your Lenovo
2. Install the MS KB 888111 HDA subsytem patch
3. Install the Lenovo SoundMax drivers.

Hope this helps someone else!

It sure helped me with my T60p wide screen! A million thanks! Here are the links in case anyone is interested:

1. Apply the latest bios update for your Lenovo
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-67020

2. Install the MS KB 888111 HDA subsytem patch
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-65456

3. Install the Lenovo SoundMax drivers.
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... idate=true

Obviously these links will vary depending on the model# of your computer. This is for a Lenovo T60p widescreen (with fingerprint reader)...not that the fingerprint reader has anything to do with this particular fix though.
