i.e. meeting in "real life". I haven't. It would be fun though.

Yes, I have met "Sudevan", in an attempt to help him with his TP600, then 600E. Infact, I think we met a total of 3-4 times, including lunch one day. Suevan is a very nice person, I might add.

I know that Ray has met people face to face...

So far only one person... Met with junknstuff for about 1/2 hour in an attempt to diagnose a non-power-up issue with his T20:

Since there are several people here that are in my area, I'll probably have more chances in the future.

How about admiring each other's Thinkpad collection (many people on this forum have dozens), or trading computers/parts?

The meeting thing happens when people can share something, car shows and cruises for instance on my auto forums happen all the time. The computer is still a "personal" thing, if you see what I mean.

If anyone likes Linux, spiders and cars let me know!

Agree with you. Trade sometime can happen, but not that interesting.I rarely see people make friends with buyers / sellers.

Spiders? Real spiders? Kind of interesting.

I like music, photography. Like cars but cannot afford a fancy car now.

Linux? maybe. I do not use Linux now. I owned a Linux public server years ago.

Actually, Alphakilo470 is one of my good friends and lives less than 2 miles from me. He was the one that turned me to this forum in the first place.

Well, consider yourself one of my friends as well, because any friend of Alex is a friend of mine...

I just met The Spirit of X21 in my office and we talked about computers for over three hours. I met Turbo Audi, also in my office, back in January when we traded our Thinkpads, and vanaya in a restaurant in Houston TX when he bought an AC adapter from me. All of them are nice people.

Hi girls and guys,
We are currently officially homeless, as our house in Ireland was finally sold on June 29. Our household gear is in storage in New York already.

At the moment we are in Norway. On July 27 we are off to Italy, then on August 18 on to Switzerland for the wedding of our oldest daughter. On August 27 back to Ireland, and finally on August 30 we fly out to New York/JFK and drive on to some rented accommodation in PA.

We'll then have to start house hunting in PA straight away.
As perhaps mentioned before, our chosen area is North Pocono, with the Moscow area the focus of our search.
We'll let you know as we progress.

Not yet. There seem to be precious few members in the Pacific NW area. However, I'll be moving to Gainesville, FL in about two years. I know the TP density is higher there.^^

Blues Festival in Cincinnati this weekend. Anyone going? I'll buy you a beer. But I probably won't bring any of my Thinkpads, too hot to have them outside.

Reviving this thread for an update...

Spent almost two hours meeting with Purcy and her significant other while they were in town (San Jose). It was great being able to finally converse face-to-face with somebody you have "talked" to via threads, PMs and emails for almost exactly one year. Covered many topics (not ALL computer or Thinkpad related :) ) and was sorry to have to end our meeting when they had to leave for an appointment.

A funny Thinkpad moment: Purcy pointed out two people hunched over a TP across the lobby from us and asked what I thought it might be. A quick glance at the back panel led me to think "T4x" (purple parallel port was the only thing on the back besides the DC jack). Then with a second, longer stare, I saw the single lid latch on the right side and the wireless antenna window on the "top" edge. Don't know if it might have been anything else since my most "modern" system is a T41.

As far as I am aware, *60 series don't have a parallel port on the back.

And I've definitely played identify-the-Thinkpad myself as well.

I need to add an update: It turned out that I had met Syedj in Boston in around Oct 2006 when I sold an A31p to him via Craigslist. I had no idea he was a member of this forum until several weeks ago!
