Cannot maintain wireless connection, error message
My X60 refuses to maintain a wireless connection, dropping the connection every few minutes and immediately reconnecting. I started looking through Access Connections logs, and this error message appears over and over again during periods where I was losing my connection:
ERROR AcSvc( SYSTEM(Prvlg).3636.5000) 23:59:41:698 AcConfigManager::GetRegistryProperty: CM_Get_DevNode_Registry_Property() Failed for PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0024&SUBSYS_0033168C&REV_01\4&37908101&0&00E1. Registry property=13!
My driver is up to date. Should I try reinstalling the driver? Is this Vista being lame?

Uninstall Access Connections to see if you can use your network via Windows Network and Sharing Center.
Also you don't mention which version of Access Connections you're using?

Isn't Access Connections supposed to work though? I'm having similar issues on a new X61 tablet. Don't you lose a lot of other stuff if you disable AC?ryengineer wrote:Uninstall Access Connections to see if you can use your network via Windows Network and Sharing Center.

I've found v4.1 more stable, you can try reverting back to it but both worked fine under my system.Stealthjaint wrote:I'm using AC version 4.42 build 7RCN38WW.

Yes, it works but at times it can get unstable due to numerous reasons one of which is if you overlap/upgrade/update wireless drivers without uninstalling it first.bluto wrote:Isn't Access Connections supposed to work though? You don't lose anything for uninstalling it apart from Access Connections program itself.

Re: Cannot maintain wireless connection, error message
I am getting exactly the same problem with my Z61p - I'll be watching with interest!Stealthjaint wrote:My X60 refuses to maintain a wireless connection, dropping the connection every few minutes and immediately reconnecting. If I find out I'll let you know.

You folks should also run PC Doctor diagnostic test on your NIC to see whether it's functioning properly or not.

PC Doctor didn't find any problems. I have, however, been experiencing frequent BSODs since I've been having this wireless problem, sometimes as often as 3 per day. This is not to say that the BSODs are related to my wireless problem, but they both began to appear around the same time. Today Vista did a dick check and found no bad sectors or files or anything.
Might reinstalling Vista and only the most basic device drivers solve this problem?

Vista SP1 RC
I had this frustrating connection dropping problem every day on my X61. I have posted about it in the past.
I have to say that since I installed the Vista SP1 RC update, the problem seems much less frequent. The X61 still will lose a connection once in a while, but even then it reconnects almost right away a lot of the time. It is no longer a daily annoyance.
Also, I used to have to restart the machine when this occurred to get the connection back. After the SP1 RC install,all of this seems much improved.
Vista may not be perfect, but I am much happier with it since the SP1 RC install.
