Anyone know any brick and mortar or distributors who have local demo units available to test in person before I place my order?

I dont need a local retailer with stock, as I will use my IBM employee discount, but would like to test a unit before dropping 2k on it.

Thanks in advance!

global stock is extremely low on preconfigured units.   you'd be better off ordering one and reselling it if you don't like it.   it'll probably be a month or two before dealers/distributors have consistent stock on the X300.

Probably right about buying and just reselling it. I am guessing with my discount I could at least be close to breaking even.

flipping units is frowned upon by IBM and lenovo but the current open-box return policy leaves buyers stuck with either taking a 15% restocking fee or finding another option; sitting on it or reselling it.   current EPP pricing on the X300 is really good so i doubt you'd lose much if anything on it.

however, chances are you'll end up keeping it. ;)
