I was a bit confused when I needed to update BIOS and ECP. Firstly because the two versions were mutually dependant, so I didn't know where to start. I played around with the thought of upgrading stepwise, but being unable to find any compatibility information on Lenovo's website on older BIOS/ECP-versions, I was too afraid to do so.

I the found this forum, and found a post saying, that I could upgrade BIOS to newest version first - then I should upgrade ECP.

So I dared to upgrade BIOS. I downloaded the most recent BIOS upgrade tool and double clicked it from Windows. After a short while my T41 booted up in BIOS upgrade "mode" and flashed. All well.

Now I needed to upgrade the ECP: Downloaded newest ECP (3.04) and initiated same procedure. T41 booted up in ECP Upgrade "mode" but told me, that this upgrade didn't work with my system???

I have checked several times - it is the correct distribution. Also I've tried to find a related post on this forum to no avail.

Anybody had similar problems - and perhaps a solution?

Best regards
Peter

I have two thinkpads (T40 and T41)
I installed bios first on T41 and for some reason I couldn't install the ECP
on T40, I installed ECP and haven't install the latest bios yet...

"Glad" to hear I'm not alone having similar problems.. Now, does there exist a solution for this?

IBM Support keeps telling me to "read the readme-file associated with the distribution of the BIOS or ECP", but these contradict eachother.

Hope for a helpful sole to pass by this thread :)

Best regards
Peter
