nice one... wish i have one

Is the x41 horribly slow seeming to you? I want to buy a tablet, and the x41 is cheaper than the x60... But it's still too darn expensive!

the x60 is worth it. the bottleneck in this computer is the processor and most of all, the hard drive. The x60 gives you the option of up to 4gb ram and an 7200rpm hard drive, along with a dual core processor. Just to think of all that inside a tablet amazes me.

Honestly the only reason I got this over the x60 besides being like half the price, was that this is my first thinkpad, and I like to own one of the last ibm branded ones for nostalgia. When I use corel painter on large canvas the system does become sluggish. Disk operations are nightmares.

I bought this thinking it would be a cheaper alternative to the wacom cintiqs. I was surprised just how well the pen input is. The sensitivity compared to my intuos is almost indistinguishable.

If you can afford the x60t then by all means do it. The hard drive options and dual core really shine with the updated versions of pro apps that take advantage of multiprocessing.

I will be upgrading the ram to 2.5gb and will try to find a more robust hard drive, and will report how that goes. What will you be doing with your tablet?

The X41 has a 1.8" hard drive that is proprietary in design and cannot be upgraded past 60GB capacity and 4,200RPM speed.

I would mostly be using it for Video Game Development and maybe some fun art stuff with GIMP. Plus, I've got some college classes coming up, so it could be potentially handy for note taking. I've always had hand-me-down computers ever since I took interest in the hobby, so I suppose I should get a new one for once if I can. I'm actually more interested in the tablet mode just for fun than anything... but I'm looking forward to seeing what cool art I can make with it. I have a miniscule wacom digitizer, and I can't stand to use it, partially because it's so far removed from what I'm drawing.

I don't know, I use computers for all sorts of stuff-- something new every week. XD Problem is, I can't afford one. I never can. -_-

I thought it was only because the zif connector was on the wrong side? a zif to cf adapter could allow for something like a fast 32gb cf card i think.. but yea you're right. we are stuck with the slow hard drives....




well im running an older version of photoshop so it is alright. I bet a newer gimp would be even more streamlined and faster. if by development you mean coding and not 3d and rendering then the 41 should do. I ran borland jbuilder without hitch.

That is true, but you stated "robust hard drive". A CF card is not a hard drive.

hmm... well, no matter which model I choose, I still cannot afford it.
