I see from recent posts that Zender isn't around anymore to reply to PMs. If someone has a modified T61 BIOS, could I trouble you to send it?

I've tried building one myself and find myself stuck at the same:
phnxmod bios.flh bioscod5.mod.old bioscod5.mod
Loading data...Old module (without header) not found in the ROM file. Quitting.
that another person got hung up at.

Thank you very much.

Hi,

Nub here looking for R500 BIOS so my new Atheros card can work and disable the 1802. Since I see that zender isn't available these days for PM, could someone point me in the direction for getting the fixed BIOS? I'm trying to learn how to do it on my own, but it's a long process, and I have a class coming up in less than 2 weeks. Any help would be appreciated. :)

Regards,
Natalie

As per first posting, I PM'd Zender over a week ago, so is it possible someone has a modded bios for a IBM Lenovo T500 (2241-V7N)? I'm looking to put a non IBM WWAN card in this.

Many thanks for any help.

[EDIT: I've recently had to replace a faulty RAM module, so it may have been the root cause of my problems outlined below rather than the modified BIOS]

Not sure if this problem has already been addressed (couldn't find it using the search) but I installed a non-IBM/Lenovo WWAN into a T60p awhile ago and was able to boot thanks to one of Zender's modified bios roms. [EDIT: It was actually Lenovo branded Sierra Wireless MC8775 WWAN card. But that card was only available in the T61, so it was still blacklisted on my T60p].

However just recently I decided to set power-on, supervisor and hdd passwords. After saving the settings and rebooting, the computer hung at the bios splash screen. The computer wasn't frozen or unresponsive (pressing the blue ThinkVantage or F1 button made the text change and ctrl+alt+del worked) but it wouldn't proceed further. At first I thought I had somehow bricked it. Removing the hard drive from the computer didn't help, but then I remembered that I had flashed a modified bios to allow me to use a non-IBM/Lenovo WWAN card. So I removed the WWAN card and the computer booted up normally, prompting for all three password types that I had set.

I was so glad I hadn't bricked my computer but I'm not sure why the it hangs with the WWAN card installed. After a little experiment I've determined that only two of the three password types seem to cause problems.

1. Setting a power-on password prevents the computer from proceeding past the bios splash screen.

2. Setting a supervisor password prevents the computer from proceeding past the "Startup Interrupt Menu" screen (if the blue ThinkVantage button is pressed) or gives a blank black screen if F1 is pressed to enter the bios setup utility.

3. Setting a hdd password (user only or user+master) will allow the computer to boot normally and allow access to the bios setup utility without any apparent problems.

Perhaps the two passwords types that are causing problems rely on hardware checks that were disabled/corrupted when the code was modified to allow our Thinkpads (or at least the T60p) to boot with "unauthorised" WWAN cards.

Zender might already known about this issue (can't remember since I installed the modified bios awhile ago) and may have fixed it already.

Oh and DanijelM, hoppinbob, darkfrog, bolverk and caleb2 - check your PM's.
(Not sure if you guys still needed help).

Does not exist. Remains to be seen whether or not anyone capable of making the mods will undertake the task. I remember vaguely some discussion of how the new BIOSs are encrypted somehow, and that renders them nearly impossible to alter ... but I can't recall if that "discussion" was reality or my imagination!

There is indeed no Zender-BIOS version for the T410/T510/W510.

The following infos have not been declared as "classified" by Zender.
Use them at your own risk/peril.

Thank you. I've had some experience with this sort of thing in the past, figured I'd ask before going through the effort. I'll let you know if I'm successful.

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for the most recent modified BIOS for the T60 Type 2623-D7U so I can add an Intel 5100. Lenovo-branded if I have to go with that, but I already have a spare 5100, so if I can get around things completely, I'd like to.

If anyone could PM me with where I could get this, preferably based off the 2.26 BIOS, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you so much EOMtp!

I've installed the bios on my x200 and have my Option GTM378 WORKING. I couldn't get it to work with Access Connections though. I kept getting this error that another utility was using the card but there was nothing else I could find using it. I finally downloaded the official Option Connection Manager from there website called GlobeTrotter connect at that works!

The only thing left to get working is the Fn+F5. Which is unfortunately not working. When I had AC installed, after modifying the Dlls it would show up. but when I tried to use Fn+F5 to change the status it would then disappear. Note: it would still show up in AC though (although non-functional giving the error mentioned above).

Since I'm using the Option connection manager I have un-installed AC and am now using Tpfnf5.exe. However, even after adding my DEVID to with hexeditor it does not even show up at all. Does anyone have any hints how I can get FN+F5 working with the Option GTM378? I would really like this to work since the Option util has no control for on/off.

Thanks!

Dan,

middleton from forums.notebookreview.com has also modified the bios for T61 to remove the whitelist issue, among other things. You could use that BIOS if it suits you and you are also OK with all the other modifications that come with it.

Be sure to note that this is a hacked BIOS and as such, I don't think you can blame the author if by flashing it all hell breaks loose :) You can check the thread and download the BIOS file at the following link:

http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo-ibm/459591-t61-x61-sata-ii-1-5-gb-s-cap-willing-pay-solution-3.html#post6501443

All the best,
Panagiotis

Not entirely true. I know of another place you can go to get the BIOS "made up" custom. They can hack it in a few hours. They call the modding process for the BIOS, the "endeer"/"ender" method. Guy seems to be using Zender's tutorial to make them. He is pretty adept at doing it... Any who, please reference this post to see what I mean.

The place seems abandoned by Zender.
for those who want's error 1802/1804 removed, follow the link viewtopic.php?f=2&t=92115&p=603448#p603448 and make a request.
