T410: How to avoid sleeping on docking station
T410: How to avoid sleeping on docking station
Hi,
I am using T410. I configured the laptop that while closing the lid, the laptop will be in sleep mode.
However, while the lid is opened and put the laptop in my docking station and close the lid - the laptop is going into sleep mode.
How to define that the laptop will remain 'On', if the lid has been closed while the laptop is in the docking station?
Thanks,
Uriel

Re: T410: How to avoid sleeping on docking station
I believe that in recent versions of Windows (assuming you have Win7 on it), you can define separate lid closing actions for when the laptop is on battery and when it is on AC power.
Thinkpad 25 (20K7), T490 (20N3), Yoga 14 (20FY), T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X220 4291-4BG
X61 7673-V2V, T60 2007-QPG, T42 2373-F7G, X32 (IPS Screen), A31p w/ Ultrabay Numpad

Re: T410: How to avoid sleeping on docking station
Thanks: I forgot to mention that I have XP on that PC and there is no option to define a separate scenario when running on battery or AC.
Is there any patch I can install to manage those 2 scenarios?
Thanks,
Uriel

Re: T410: How to avoid sleeping on docking station
"Docked" is a different hardware profile than "undocked". After you dock, go to the "Hardware Profiles" setting found on the Control Panel/System/Hardware page, and set the lid action parameters for the "Docked" profile.
Re: T410: How to avoid sleeping on docking station
Thanks: I have created a new profile under Hardware Profile, and marked the checkbox that this is portable computer and the computer is docked.
But, how this helps me to define that while I close the lid the laptop will not be in sleep mode?

On the page below, read under To apply a setting to a specific plan:

Re: T410: How to avoid sleeping on docking station
Thanks, but this article does not explain how the HW configuraton (!) can help to stop sleep mode on docking station. I am familar that in some cases there is an option in the power management to manage different scenarios while the laptop is on power or on battery, but those options does not exist in my laptop.
Need your help, please.
