I am running ms-dos 6.22 and wfw 3.11 and have been unable to finbd a ethernet card that works. After i install all the driversand reboot, once net start loads in autoexec.bat the computer hangs. Has anyone used ethernet in wfw and what card did you use

I'd find an old Realtek 8019-based or an old 3COM XJack 10Mbit PCMCIA card and see if you can dig up the old DOS NDIS drivers for it.

Good luck, WfW has been out of support (by MSFT and other providers) for 15 years now.

Yes, I have been jaded by (purported) technocrats. Almost as jaded by the tech itself.

I've used 3Com 3c575 (100 Mbps 32-bit) cards in DOS and pretty sure WfW should support them too.
They were available with dongles or with X-jack. I got a bunch of them for a few bucks each on ebay.
If WfW has problems supporting 32-bit (CardBus) you could also look at 3c574 which is the 16-bit equivalent.
